For both pvm and pvp the best assassin is a trapper.
You can reach huge amounts of damage with synergised traps and it's very safe to hang back and just set up traps.

Fists of fire is just a skill to increase damage of Phoenix strike otherwise it sucks.

Trapper is the best choice for pvp because it can deal with any class of character... WW sins are also very good if built right

Trappers are great/awesome for Nightmare and normal, but they suck in hell. Don't get me wrong, I made a trapper and it was one of the most fun characters I have ever played. But it seems like every monster and its brother are lightning immune in hell. For PvP Trappers work fairly well, until you find someone who knows what they are doing. All the other chars have to do is put on lightning resist equiptment and you, as a trapper, are finished. They are pretty easy to lvl, took me about a week and a half to get to lvl 84. I've stopped playing with her because there isn't any reason for me to continue. She does decent damage but her skills are limited.

You have it all wrong, best Asn is Psychic Hammer Asn b/c Magic dmg is so unresistible.

Id probably say a Trap Asn/WW Asn, just because the WW Asn is so unique and can produce massive amounts of damage. Trappers too, dont get me wrong here

@Phresh Trappers are just as flawd as any other single element character. Every element can be resisted ... most can be absorbed. If you depend on lightening, it's extremely easy for someone to simply return to their stash, change a couple of items and come back out damageing you while you heal them.
