View Full Version : Skeleton stats determined at summoning?

I noticed that when you get a skill shrine, you can usually then summon an extra skeleton, but when it wears off, he colapses. So I was wondering when exactly is a skeleton's stats determined, and do they change if your skill level changes. If the skel's stats are fixed at summoning, then it might be a good idea to weapon swap a wand with +raise skeleton/skeleton mastery on it right when you summon and then switch back to something else afterwards. Does anyone know if this works, or does the skeleton power down as soon as you switch wands?

Yes, using a weapon switch is a common tactic called pre-buffing. Since the stats are set at summoning it's always a good idea to resummon all of your skeletons after hitting a skill shrine (if there are enough bodies around). You up every one by a couple of extra levels and it does wonders for their longevity.

This is known as prebuffing. Many necro players have +summons equipment on switch, which they use to summon minions before switching back to their regular gear. The effect after switching back is that the minions retain the extra bonuses granted to them by the +summons gear they were summoned with, although you lose any extra minions that this might grant you.

The same applies to skill shrines - whenever I hit a skill shrine I resummon all my skellies so that they get the added bonuses from the shrine.

Hehehehe, looks like we were commenting on separate threads at the same time.
