Hi all! I came up with this variation to play with my friend's skellimancer, so it's designed around multi-player play. No need to tell me it'll be weak soloing in hell, because it's just for fun.

My poison/melee hybrid.

20 in PD, PE, PN
20 in CE
1 point in some curses, BA, and a few in CG/GM

I am normally not a fan of exploiting bugs, but since this isn't a power class anyway, I'm letting myself this time. I will use the PD bug to melee with some sort of polearm, the idea being to have the reach to melee from behind my buddy's skellies. Also, I'll try to get marrowwalk to give BA some synergy.

I'll intermittantly cast PN and beat on monsters (to leech my mana) to get a few kills. Of course, my buddy's skellies will accomplish this better than I, but the melee aspect is more for fun and some life/mana leech. Amp Dam and a Might merc will help my melee damage a bit, and Life Tap will let me leech some life as well when needed. Once there are a couple corpses, spam some big ol' CE onto the monsters already weakened from PN.

I love the idea of a necro running around with a big nasty melee weapon. It's just something you don't see very often. I'm willing to pump my stats enough to use something flavorful. Any ideas? Bonehew? Upgraded Grim's Burning Dead?

I can see that build being a lot of fun.

You have to go with Grim's Burning Dead. It was made perfectly for what you want to do. Good luck finding one.

Yeah, that's always the rub, huh? We'll see what I find. I may keep some stat points in reserve in case I have to settle for something that doesn't have -50% requirements. It would be kind of funny to have a necro that wields a Cranium Basher or Grandfather, or something ridiculous like that, though. :)

for style points the following is a must:

Etheral Grim's Burning Dead (upgraded)
Vamp Gaze
Black Armor
Spine Ripper / Homonculus on weapon switch

Now we're cooking with jet fuel baby!

My little bro found that grim thingy about 2 days ago in a Hell Andy MF run. I'll ask him if he feels like trading or something.

Gvandale, I'm getting excited now! :D One question, though: why ethereal grims? Stormspire is indestructable, but an upgraded grims wouldn't be. And I can't afford zod. ;) Unless I'm missing something, which is always possible.

Ronin, I'd be interested, but I have next to nothing to offer right now. I was investing in a HC char up till now and it all went up in smoke yesterday :D. I'm on West, btw. But if he's on West SC, I'll certainly try to accumulate something to trade.

unless I'm mistaken he means for mad sexyness points. Not practical, but ethereal looks really nice.

Etheral Up'd Grim's only because of how unbelievably cool a semi-translucent scythe would look. Seriously, that weapon / grim helm / black armor...you'd look like 'DEATH'.

Then the wicked knife / human head in a bag on switch, in case you gotta get up close and 'gut' someone....

sexy

My young padawan is learning so quickly, it must be his high medacholorians.
