View Full Version : Wich char is most safe/effective to solo hell ancients?

Wich char is best as soloing ancients at a decent speed while still beeing safe? I think about a skelemancer but aint they VERY slow? Any other builds?

Twinked hammerdins can just sit there and spam hammers. Most other chars can't sit still, but once people have good items ancients aren't really that hard. If you're asking about soloing them with bad gear, I don't see why you wouldn't want help from other people.

Well I did it solo with my skelemancer and it was not slow at all. Took maybe 3 or 4 minutes. I have pretty crappy gear all things considered (only +6 or so skills) and was about level 79 or so.

Never even came close to dying and the skeletons took it like champs.

personly i really dont like summonnecros. But if theyre the best i'll make one. What about a bone mancer? Can they do it?

Seriously it is a summonmancer you need like Connor said - bonemancer = few or no minions = you'de better be able to tank three ancients beating on you at the same time!

With a bone mancer i would just throw walls all over the place. But i guess youre right. My only "fear" is that they kill so slow... If i'll rush some1 its no good if it takes 5-10 mins just to kill ancients

I'd suggest to get a decent amount of revives, then hope you can resurrect a bunch of moon lords. They - and the skells - should swarm the Ancients pretty good.

Decrep + Skellies + Revives = Ancinets crying like babies!

A well gear WW Barb will smoke them prety easy also but I thinkI would check mods and reset them it needed.

i soloed them wiht my Trapper last season with little issue but I did have to run in circles a bit and recast Master several times. One was LI and I was damn happy I had a fire skill.

Walls don't really help, cos one of em jumps em, and a second whirlwinds through em. The only use for walls is to absorb the throwers attacks.

I agree with the hammer pally. My old palladin did 18k hammer dmg, ripped up the ancients very fast.

this post is of absolutly no help. This is not very acheiveable at this time and would require the best gear and many charms to acheive and I doubt anybody would have to post a question like this if they had this capability.

Besides......half that damage is still more than enuff to kill anything in the game safely and my poor 6500 hammerdin could smoke Ancients solo also but without BO would be at a pretty big risk.

Just as more meat shields. Amp will break physical immunities, it just might take time to kill all of them.

Max Skellz and SM / 1 in Mage (preq for Revives) / u want @ least 6 or so Revives dependant on your +skill gear... and if your in HELL u should have @ least +4 skills gearwise... have 10+ Skellz / 6 Moonlords / Clay Golem (easily recastable) and a MIGHT MERC (Offensive - NM A2 merc) would take down the Ancients...

Also suggest having Bone-Spear... 10 B-Spear would give you decent dmg...

Last season I built a skellymancer solely for doing Hell (and NM) ancients for my friend and I for our myriad of chars.

It worked like a charm, we never had a close call. Just keep casting decrep. And if they spawn with really bad mods (amp + might or something) then just reset them with a TP.

I plan on doing the same this season but he's only lvl 29 at the moment while we work on leveling our other chars.

Note that when soloing ancients there is one little "trick" that could be considered an abuse of the spirit of the quest;
If the game is burned in (IE it's been up for 5 minutes), you can leave the arreat to res your merc/raise more minions/buy more pot/etc by exiting the game, rejoining, and walking back there.
You get credit for the quest, but since the quest says "Defeat the ancients without leaving the summit" or something to that exent, I don't really consider it doing the quest.

are you sure moon lords would be better than the blunderbore-class-monster?

Blunderbores do crushing blow, which is of huge help vs. bosses and such, dunno how good they are vs the likes of the ancients.

Back in last ladder season my Stormlash zerker worked like a charm versus the ancients. He took them down so fast while still maintaining max block, max dr, and a tad over 3000 life. I doubt many people have this during the early stages however. He was also a very good clone killer. Barbs are underestimated I think; they are still good killers.

Yeah Zerk barbs are awesome against the Ancients but not this early in the season. Well I guess some people will have good barbs by now (Max Dr, Max Block, Good Weapon, 4k+Life) but I only play for a few hours a day so it takes me a lot longer for me to get my chars to that sort of standard compared to most people. (dam my grammar is terrible can't believe I passed english at school)
