Well, I don't know if greedy is the right word. So just listen to my story.
After 3 hours of Meph/Eldritch/Shenk runs, I acquired quite the number of normal and low level exceptional uniques. Bonesnap/Shard/Steeldriver/Ginthers/Witchwild String to name a few.
So I made a new game called: Free low Uniques
Bunch of people came.. most were grateful and even thanked me!
Then a Level 23 Maul Barb came in. I open trade screen and put a bonesnap in the slot and click Trade.
He then proceeded to say:
"LOW% SNAP LOL"
and
"Noob equip gibme ss"
and
"This crap sux, I want shako"
"I want useful stuff lik vex or other"
I then told him I didn't have any of this 'godly' equipment and even if I did that I would not be giving it away for free. He began telling me that I was a "noob" and a "gook ***" (Sorry if this offends anyone, I didn't mean it too)
Seriosly, it pissed me off. I don't know if he was playing around or not, but I'm giving out free items and he is asking for specific items that he wants?? And then proceeds to insult me? Right..
It doesn't make any sense. This was on USEast by the way.

I know how you feel man, especially the "gook ***" part. I know I should never let it get to me but when someone calls me a gook, ***, the "n word", etc, I get extremely pissed. Thats my biggest pet peeve with the internet, not just Diablo 2. Its the internet tough guys, the guys who tell you to stfu when you ask for a safe tp or to be partied, or who call you a newb for trying to make an inferno sorc, or call you a racist name when you exit them in a duel and compliment them on there chicken hack when they rejoin. I always just know the guys who act like there the toughest, hottest sh*t online are the scrawniest, dorkiest kids in person. And sry for going so off-topic in your thread and starting a rant.
We aussies have a good word for his type, but it would be edited out :(
But judging by his actions, I don't think that he could have seriously thought that you would have given him those sort of items... Could he?

Honestly... this has never happend to me in Euro. I ususally give away for free and 50-50 I get a thank you and the others just take the stuff and leaves. But thats just way to rude.

I usually make free game when i have one item on my cursor when i exit last mf-run.. I make game drop item in ground, wait first to show up and inform where item is and then without waiting any thanks i exit the game and continue to mulegame :)
and usually i name game like free mid uniq armor etc.. to be a bit specific

I never give free items in public games anymore.. always to friends on my f list if im capable of doing so.. it'll benefit you much later in the end. Yes its sad to find ignorant unappreciative racists like that but then again many 13 year olds play the game and not to generalize but at that age many people are quite immature.

I think that guy was just messing around. Lots of people apparently get off on that sort of thing, i.e. pissing off random people for no reason. The racist homophobic 12-year-olds don't usually have such a vast library of derogatory terms at their disposal ("***" and "noob" are almost always the only two). And to even know about the word "gook" he must have been playing this game for a decent amount of time.
It doesn't make any sense. This was on USEast by the way.

It's not ignorance. This guy's attitiude can only be solved by a severe and thorough adjustment, usually through an *ss-whuppin'.
You can seem to guess the age and race of the kids on the other side of the screen by the slurs they use. Anything homophobic - age 8-18. Anything in terms of religion - white kid. Anything in term of race - more than likely white kid.

FYI: he tried to give his friend a tarn the other day and yelled saying he wanted a shako... i dont understand some people :scratch:

I have one person on my /f list like that. He's 14 years old and McSaladshaker introduced me to him :rant: and he won't go away. He mooched all he could at the beginning of the season, and now I only keep him on the list anymore because he's got some high level chars now...
Soon he will be introduced to my Enchanted Strafing Riphooker (as soon as I build up the gear on my chanter some more). Last season his character almost died if I hadn't stopped attacking him. This season, he will meet death with the character I helped gear up.

I think this person was deliberately trying to annoy you and unforunately by what you said he succeeded in doing so. Hopefully though you didnt let him know this as it just fuels his desire to do it again. I assume that this is ladder and If he expects to be given a free SS or Vex it's obviously him that's the noob.

Blizzard should really make it so that for two players to be able fight each both of them should have to go hostile with each other, not just one (like player1 goes hostile with player2, but can't harm player2 until player2 goes hostile with them also). This way clans like BM couldn't just join games a terrorize the people in them

If blizz wanted to fix it all they'd have to do is make it that no attacks cause damage from town. Other than being tppk'ed or jumped right off the bat, you basically passively agree to the duel.
I think you should be able to put another set of gloves in your weapon slot and then slap the other character in the face with them.
:scratch: though I guess you could just drop your gloves...not as fun though.
(btw it would then be the Duel button not the Hostile button)

Technically by game specifications they are accepting the duel, where as in reality it's being forced upon them. Still a duel rather than a pk imo.

When I read you advocating TP trapping I thought “hmm… that seems out of character (thought the same about a lot of you D2.netters).”

Think about it, I've been legit for pretty much all of my time in HC and been a fairly upstanding member of the forum aside from spam. I decide to join my friends on a team that is inherently legit. Logic would indicate that it is most likely indeed legit.

I'm always inspired and amused by threads like this that debate B-M issues, particularly in a dying game (gogo Doom3). It's kinda like arguing whether its ok to steal the silverware on the Titanic.
If Senor Nightshade wants hang with the shallow end of the gene pool, I say it's his right to choose that. It's not like having one more will strengthen or weaken their cause, and it is also not like he isn't a big enough boy to make his own bad choices. Honor is your own to throw away.

Everything I find has to be used because i dont have a million mules. Currently i have crap gear actually. All my items are blue and yellow and the yellow ones arnt great. Im a lvl 14 hammeridian who solos quests because after a year of not playing I dont know anyone anymore. Either way people like you are a dimond in the rough now days. I know both Shade and Billy have joined BMPK. I personally detest BMPK, why? Because they use scripts and 3rd party programs, I dont detest them for any reason except the way that they play the game, and I know that Shade and Billy (and probably the rest of the legit team) do not play the game in a way I detest (scripts, bots, maphack etc) therefore, I could care less that they are in BMPK.
I personally think it would have been a better idea to make a legit pking clan OUTSIDE of BMPK, simply because BMPK is known for nothing more than tppking and hacking in every way they possibly can.
I think my point is clear enough. Obviously most of us hate the way that most members of BMPK play the game, and therefore, automatically dislike anyone who is a member of BMPK because of their association with these people. However, it is a fact that Shade, Billy etc dont use hacks or 3rd party programs, therefore, dont hate them because you hate BMPK, even if they did associate with a less than reputable group of people. We all know and sometimes play with people who are idiots, like those non-legits in BMPK, but that doesnt mean we are, as it doesnt mean Shade and Billy are.

Some of my friends found out that pk-ing under the BtK tag got less than acceptable ahem, comments, from everyone that spotted you.

Well, I love to play boners and bowazons, and I think it sucks so many won't trust me because of some losers. But just the fact that it makes my game less enjoyable probably makes said losers happy. :)

I do not know why it would be surprising that there would be legit pks in BM in addition to those that use 3rd party programs. BM's primary goal has always been pking by any means fair or foul. So legit pking is definately a part of it as well.
True I can not personally call myself a legit pker anymore but I do primarily kill without using any non legit methods. Most of my use of non legit methods is in the name of testing. It does not make it any better but oh well.
As to why some true legits would hang out with the rest of us. I would say the main reason is because they got to know the people behind the BM mask. Like most groups there are good and bad people in the clan. Many are truely fun to be around and game with.
As to the original thrust of this thread I agree that the person that dissed the snap and asked to be given a ss free is well in the wrong. All I can say is that is one messed up kid. If you get offered something free you should be happy with what you get and not look the gift horse in the mouth.

Well, earlier today I was baaling with these guys, and this one hammerdin kept dissing on this other one, who was poorer than him. He kept making fun of his "noob" damage, and junk. The whole tiem I stood there and watched. After a while, a sorc came in. This was right on the act5 minions, and she hostiles. The 'noob pala' came to town adn we continued to talk, while the pally who had his head up his own arse tried to steal a few extra exp off the lister guys. Anyway, he got killed, sorc gave the 'noob pala' the guys ear, we all had a good laugh, and they both left.

Anyway I had a similar experience 2 nights ago. I decided to go back to non-ladder and see if there were any duel games up. I noticed a game called "item plz" so I decided to go in and give a few mid lvl items to the pally that was in there. He was in Act1 standing beside his tp so I proceded to drop some items by the stash (occy,gaze,doom,hoz). I then went to Act2 to xfer some runes and runewords to another character, came back to grab the stuff and noticed the items I had dropped for the pally were still sitting there. I then asked "Are you there?", no reply. After a few mins he pipes up:
Pally: "Item plz"
Me: "I dropped some by the stash"
Pally: "Item plz"
Me: "Items on ground in town by chest"
Pally: "Item plz"
I then went back to act1 to help this fellow locate the items I had donated to find them gone and him standing by the stash. He then says:
Pally: "Item plz"
Shaking my head in disbelief i then think "If only this ungrateful little punk was lvl 9 so I could pk his sorry /\rse"
Anyway he repeats the only line in his vocabulary a few more times before I exit in disgust.
Next time i'll try and find someone who will actually appreciate item donations. I guess he expected me to drop a few botds and enigmas.

Usually when I have the items to start giving them out for free... I just go into the Hardcore channel and pick out the person who seems to have the usual starting out gear. No noticeable good items, or the person who is just trying to get a infernal set piece ect.
Then I whisper them, and show them everything I have and ask what would be useful to them. Invariably they pick 1 or two items and are very thankful.
That is my method. Anyone can join a "free itamz" game with a lvl 1, even though they have lvl 80's with all the good stuff. I actively seek out those who are poor. Since I just started this ladder I'm waiting for someone just like me, who see me asking for death set gloves in the channel!
