Wow...12.5 hour days of work suck, especially when you are sitting the whole time. Blah..still 1.5 hours left...the clock seems like it is getting slower and I think I am starting to hallucinate (spelling?) Guess i'll just think about how good my next check will be with the money from all the Overtime...

I feel your pain - I do public accounting, nothing like 13 hour work days from mid january to 4/15.
Good luck, man.
I do 10 year round and many Saturdays also.

Only 20 minutes to go!!
@ Stinger. I know that feeling, I usually do 10 hour days also, saturdays I don't mind to much sometimes (unless I go out friday night) because I only stay for about 4 hours tops and there is no one here to annoy me
Going 2 years without a vacation or just a full week off to just relax...everything and everyone becomes annoying to me, even the people I like. Luckily I have the last week of this month off.

Well I work 9 hour days but then 2 hours for commute so that puts me at 11 hours a day not being able to do stuff I took for grantid(or grantit? neither looks right to me :( ) during college. Anyways I can survive because I know I can go back to my lazy self in another 1.5 months :).
edit: naughty words!
*ponders about the dutch 37-hour working week and concludes that its goooood*
Looks like I have lots of spare time compared to you guys, that is, since I'm not becoming a teacher anymore due to working stress and a bad neck. Now I gotta find me a usefull and decent job.

Guess the bad neck came from beating your head against a brick wall trying to teach the young 'uns?

I guess it's good that this site doesn't require a spellchecker to post.... btw the word your trying to spell correctly is
granted - your 1st try was pretty close

My average work day is Monday-Thursday 8 AM - 10 PM, Friday 8 AM - 5 PM and Saturday 8 AM - anywhere from 2 - 7 PM. It makes me wonder how I had any chars that even made it to hell last ladder season...
Yeah, my school year is like a holiday in comparison to working 44 hours a week. Geez, I only have 17 hours of class a week...plus I only put in a few tough weekends writing essays each semester. How I'd love for school to start now so I can be lazy again.
Wing: the word you're trying to spell is - you're
Not that it really matters, this isn't an English paper

He used "your"in the correct way. You're = You are which wouldn't make sense with what he was saying.
your 1st try was pretty close
Using "you're" would make this, "You are 1st try was pretty close".
It doesn't matter though, it's not an english paper. If I am missing something else you were talking about let me know.

Check the line prior to the one you quote, .... btw the word your trying to spell correctly...which makes both of you correct when talking about the specific word that each of you were referring to... if that makes any sense (cents?, since?). May I say, put the :spy: away and enjoy yourselves.

woot! who would've thought my brain fart of not knowing how to spell "granted" made Wing smile :). Although the spell checker to post thing was kinda harsh :( especially since I even said neither of the spellings looked right.

I know! I know! It was that necro ConnerNecleod wasn't it! Man he was good.
Oh yeah, I guess I should post something useful. I work fewer hours consecutively than anyone... which means, I don't have a set work day. I never know where I'll be the next day, and I never know if the weekend will require work or if I can sleep in. Good thing though is it allows for massive flexibility, so I was able to take 3 days off and go whole hog into the new season.

I'm putting in 12 hours tomorrow, but only about 5-6 of it will be actual work (traffic study... boooooooring), the rest is commute.

First....I'm Backkkkk
Second the post is odd as I havent been around for a LONG time becasue of my damned job. The grand IT downsize here in the States forced me to change professions. I work an easy 10 hours a day of straight time (usually 13 hours a day) as a handyman in a prewar apt. complex here in NY....I have become quite the accomplished plumber as an added bonus and I have discovered a new source of money doing tile jobs on my day off and that nearly doubles my yearly income!
Don't you hate it when you spell a word incorrectly (when there's not a computer handy) but you can't figure out the spelling for the life of you? Ugh I hate that!!

(ten chars)
i recall back some time ago when business was going big time from 88-96 i worked 5 10's and a 8 on Saturday. One strethc in there i did 5 12's and a 10 for 3 months. i wokr in Indianapolis and lived in Kokomo about 50 miles each way, if traffic was good it was 1 hour 15 mins one way.
Well.........Now i live closer and work a little less most of the time but it is still a lot. 2 years without vacation would of put me in prison, i would of shot someone by then i think even though frankly I dont get a lot of vaca, only 8 days this year, 9 next then 10 then at 15 years service I will get 3 for the remaining time. Its not terrible, I know many that dont get that good but many others get a day off if somebody farts!!!
I hear so many young ones *****ing about school and college and I always tell them they would wish like hell they could be a proffesional student once they get out in real life and do a few years.
Europe in many places have these mandated work schedules and mandatory vacation time and it looks pretty cool. Also with that though it may be for much less pay than one of us overworked Americans makes.
I tell ya though, I would gladly adjust my lifestyle to live with less money if i could get a garunteed 40 hour week. i dont really need some of the things I have and it sure as hell would be nice to get 10+ hours a week of my life back!
Anyone need someone for 40 a week with good pay and benifits??? I am open to offers!!! Oh wait, those jobs dont exist too many places and were giving to some punk that knew someone or kissed everybodies ***.
Real life bites.......stay in school....go as far as you can so I can cuss you for working 40 a week and makin more than me!

Last week I intentially reduced my work time from the average 50/week to 40. I now go home and tape, spackle, sand, prime, paint, install new electrical, and clean the kitchen we're renovating; clean and organize the rest of the house that is a mess; assemble the various bags of stuff needed for the hospital; interview doctors and daycare providers 3 weeks prior to the expected birth of our first child.
At this point, I'ld rather work the 50+.
I'M COMPLETELY OFF MY ROCKER!

It's funny how much work gets in the way of D2 playing time, but I use my job as a legal assistant to its fullest by thinking of new character builds and items I will need while I work. It certainly makes the day go by much faster and smoothly.
