Well, I was browsing some threads in forum and found some idiotic actions taken by some ppl, like ptopaz in occy to make better MF % :lol: Well, if you got 2 minuts free, post here YOUR noobish/shameful actions, stuff you wasted due to your stupidity or something.
For me it was putting UM rune in classic shield The Ward. I just came to LOD after 1,5 year in classic, didnt have ANY idea about items, skills etc in LOD... Omg, 2nd day of playing lod I found this uber d2C shield somewhere in act 1 and one friend of mine gave me UM.. May he be in hell for NOT asking me what do I need that for :lol: :lol: I kept that sucky shield with UM for 8 months or so, then my acc expired because later I stopped playing for long time. Now I laugh, but then I was kinda swearing out loud :)

hmmm,probably dropping a near perfect tarn back in classic so a sorc could "see if it was a dupe or not". Of course that helpfull little sorc had telekenesis hehehe. I knew someone who in the very first days of xpack tried to make an "honour" hydra bow
my 2nd hc char, summoner druid. leveled him to ~20 in a very nice long party game, when suddenly in tal rashas tomb that sorc dies. . .
the moment that guy wrote "tp plz" i realized that i had not checked the hardcore box.
im still surprised how we made it that far without anyone dying. :scratch:
€: necro_9, i did that with an anni. only in my case the sorc was a "friend", as in on my f-list for two weeks. guess that beats the above, though i find it less funny. :grrr:

Worst thing I done was making HoTo in a battlehammer. Thats what you get for not reading dii.net good enough. Also trying to tele all of great marsh with my newly equipped tals sorc with anni, shako and so on. I felt immortal guess what I wasn't. conviction Gloam and that was the end of FireOrb_II.

PDiamonds in my Jewelers Helm of the Mammoth back in .09. I was thinking resists, and then it dawned on me, I had had too many beers. 300 AR is nice to have. Thank god I don't do that anymore.

I did that once too, people were dying all over the place, everybody yelled 'LOL' at them, I was really shocked.
A long long time ago (single player): considering '+% to magic find' a useless property. :lol:

Want to talk about stupid trades;
2x Gul for 1x Um.
And I'd do it again too, it was for a good cause.
Or at least I consider a 300% ed eth self repairing elite in the first week of season 1 a good cause.
Here's another one some people could consider stupid;
Taking a PvM trapper who's sitting at #1 on the sin ladder and dueling things like CS zons with it.

Hahaha, today one buddy of mine told me funny story: long ago he made a barb, mastered AXES and was wondering why the hell he can't kill anything in NM, not to mention Hell.
He was using IK maul as a weapon :lol:
Messing around in a non-lethal duel with my IRL friend. Charge him with my pala and my mind drifts. BAAM! :surprise: There he goes. Felt pretty stupid about it. I guess he thought I would quit before actually killing him.
I cubed a sword wiht chips and stuck Kings Grace in it for a friend I met on this private relm. It was rather strange as I noticed it didnt have all the mods but it was still a damn good weapon for what we had at the time. I thinkit was like well over a month later when I realizd my mistake.
My first character ever in SC was a Pally.......maxed charge and fanta wiht heavy investment in thorns and I always swung to hit things and only charged bosses, but never used Zeal!!! Saw this dude on a Pally smackin chit like he was on speed so I asked him what he was using......he told me......i looked around and found this place to learn a little sumfin. After about 2-3 weeks here I erased ever character i had!
In season 1 I got way to excited about my luck finding runes and I used the first flail I found to make HOTO; it was ethereal.

I found a eth Boneweave armor with 666 def and 3 sockets. I thought i would be great for my merc as Duress. So, I get an Um and a Thul, and a Hel rune and put them in the other D2.net said to, realizing seconds later that the recipy called for a Shael, not a Hel.....

In season 1 I got way to excited about my luck finding runes and I used the first flail I found to make HOTO; it was ethereal.
Do I miss something, but whats wrong with eth HOTO, except it looks cool? You rather dont hit with it malee, do you?
Then you can't use the charges of oak sage indefinitely. It's not a big loss, but you'd certainly wish you had a non-eth flail after you ran out.

Not to get on ya, or bring up bad things but your biggest mistake since i have known you is tickin of Dad!!!
You figure out how to smooth that over yet?

And it was basically useless as a retradable.

Some people have all the luck. I myself have been playing for about 4.5 years now and have never found a high rune. Well now that i think about it ive never even found a soj. i havnt done many area runs and i dont think hell meph drops high runes or sojs but in the 20+ chars ive leveld to 70+ u think i woulda got lucky by now?

I'v been playing diablo ii since its release almost 5 years ago, never found a rune better than gul, never found any of the 'great' uniques (like windforce), never found any 'great' sets (tal/IK armor).. Ive never found any of that stuff either.
Except ONCE. back when i only played Softcore, i was in a cow game, and Tals armor dropped! It was a high defence one too. SHe is still using it today, with all the Tals set.
And no, i DONT play softcore anymore, but i still ahve my characters :)

Same here, except highest rune I 'found' was ist, although I got a gul from hellforge (not really 'finding' it).
My friend and I had Stormsheild drop from hell diablo last season, which is the best item I've ever found (or rather, 'we' found).
The ONLY coveted item I ever found on my own was Nat's claw (in 1.09), which not knowing anything, I traded for Titans revenge, only to find out it was worth about 20 or 30 titans revenge. This was before people started doing cow runs in droves, which eventually drove up the price of titans.
Doh! At least it was SC, which I don't play anymore.

Sold my Mav's armor to Larzuk while trying to socket it and then was too broke to buy it back and had to call my irl friend on the phone while I held his armor shop open and have him log on to one of my other chars and join my game and buy it back.
And one time I was mf'ing hell solo in sc and I had been annoyed by the goober brigade I call friends popping in and out of my games so I set the players allowed to one. Of course clone spawned in that game and I couldn't kill him alone.

I made the worst trade in the history of D2 back in 1.08 when xpac had just came out. Arreat's at the time were going for HUGE amounts of stuff, like 6+ sojs. Anyways I figured Jalal's Mane was just as hard to get, and ended up giving 8 sojs for it......lol....
Edit - I also gave 2 sojs for a magewrath and converted my lvl 91 zon at the start of 1.08 xpac.

Well i quit playing softcore to go to hardcore when the ladder reset. I was just gonna delete my chars but i decided to try a lld kicker first. So i was like here is a way to give stuff away but not for free. I traded a 160/60ias wire fleeze for the items i needed (mainly prubies and socketed stuff), a nos coil/string of ears for a angelic amy, a highlords wrath for a 80 ar/16 life gc, and a 393% botd crusader bow for 14x 11-15 life scs.

When I played in SP (before I discovered the wonders of "FAQS" and "message boards") I thought barbarian war cries were worthless.
Turned down a trade when I started in MP for a perfect shaftstop for an Ith RUNE because I thought the defense on the shaft was too low to do me any good.

same here! My friend said they were worthless, so i put no points into them... maybe they were joking, i was a noob.
and on my Barb (lvl 89 - Softcore) i had no points, so ppl are like "barb BO" im like "whats that?"

I couldn't agree more, try all of my highschool social life gone... Well atleast I still had 1 semester in college D2 free(damn you 1.10 patch for pulling me back in the 1st semester!!!).

I don't trade, so when I first started during the first few months I sold to Charsi & other shops ALL set and unique items that my character did not use... since I figured I would soon move on to another game.
My 1st HC character was an untwinked Werewolf with tons of life. My 2nd was an untwinked HC Necromancer (1st spellcaster ever) who "doesn't need fire resist, I'll just be careful." Then a fire catapult in Act5 killed him in 1 hit. :cheesy:

Thought socketing a Cham Rune in a Shaeffers hammer would make my Zealot godly. Poor me. Was too embarrassed to try and sell it after discovering it was useless.
Also WW'ing through a converted thorns Mauler in a Bloody Run and dying 1 hit with my newly made lvl 70 barb using my best items. Learnt to stay well clear of Pally's and Asn's with thorns. Had to learn the hard way of course.
These all happened in .09 when I was a semi-noob. I'm sure i've done other stupid things since then but can't think of any atm.

Sad thing was, even after I got a character trainer to uh, hurry along my progress with unlimited stats and skills, I still never used them.
i started playing it.. that was my biggest mistake ever.. wasted 3 years of my life ^^
