View Full Version : Sound Problem
Hey!
I have a problem with my Diablo2!
After installing original D2 (1.00) I have tried it. I didnt hear any sound under the cinematics. Every other voice if heared (speakings, noises), but the movies and the background music is NOT. I thought everything will be OK after installing the 4th CD and the 1.10 patch, but it isnt worked.
Anybody can help me?
I have Windows XP, Audigy OEM sound card, Geforce FX 5600 with 56.63 Detonator driver, with original D2 and LoD. I think the problem will with my sound card, because I played with this game before some months...
Please help!

Could have been an error while installing, or a sound card issue, try looking for the most recent update for u card, at windows update, or the manufacture of the card's site.

I've tried everything. I have the newest driver for my Audigy, Service Pack (1) for XP, the newest nvidia driver for my Geforce (56.72 WHQL Certified)...
What else needs? :-)

I can guess that possibly the cinematics are using a different aspect of the sound card. Maybe they are using the Synthesizer for example and you have the Synthesizer muted.
Try going to your Volume Control (Start->Programs->Accessories->Entertainment->Volume Control or right click on the speaker and choose Open Volume Controls) and seeing if any aspects other than your Line is muted. Unmute them and try it again.
Another option is to run DxDiag (from Run or Command Prompt) to see if Direct X has any issues with your sound card. If there are issues, follow the suggestions in DxDiag and that may fix it.
Try this:
Join a game
Press Escape
Select Options
Select Sound Options
And then turn your music volume up.

Thank you, I've tried all. No solution...
Very interesting: when I start the Diablo, every sound will mute... (For example WinAMP in the background.) Is it helps?

Doing some quick searches, Blizzard recommends running DXDiag to ensure hardware acceleration for sound is at MAX.
Another post on another site said turning harware accerlation off helped.
Another post on a different site said this may be a virus: WORM_RANDEX.AK
Another post said that overclocking can cause issues.
I wish I could find a definitive solution.
