Any hint on when and where and how you die? Soloing River of flame at lv 20 and zero res might not be a good idea.

Dying at lv 20 in Travincal is not uncommon.

Dying at lv 20 in the Sewers of Lut Golein would indicate some general incompatibility to HC.

Indeed. Don't advance too fast in HC, and take your time to gain levels. You will reduce the risk a lot.

Meteorb could be out of the question then, as you do not get that spell before lv 24.

Maybe try a Summoner Necro? Pretty passive, but madly safe. Or a trapper instead of a Kicker.

I don't think that I have but I I can recall a few times when I was saved only by a full rejuv or 2...that corkscrewey fire breath of his can do some dmg iirc...anyone wanna start a new char with me when I get home from work?

Yea I had a trangmancer at the end of last ladder season but right after I got my little vampire outfit I died...I guess I was just a little too bold in my new threads

lvl 20 in Act 3 is not undoable but that is actually a bit early, especially to be at Treehead and Council.

One can easily lvl to 23+ in Arcane, Tombs and other places in Act 2, and even lvl 24.

Basically most sorcs unless willing to invest a bit in Glacial or Fireball should try and hit Act 3 at abotu 23 so 24 comes fast so they have Blizz or a better fire skill.

Kickers.....alot of this build relys on a few things like good damage boots that take some investment in strength to get.

I suggest you slow your butt down and play the game thru Norm.......Find some people not interested in rushing thru and they do exist, or simply play by yorself in a 3-4 player game in the area you need to be in.

Pump vita.......no dex til later, and you at most need liek 30 str for a breast plate......use rubies in some sockets for life.....use a few saphires for man on a sorc,......drink pots......dont go below half life ever........use the juvs, pick them all up.....tp to town for more pots dont be stupid thinking oh ill find some ned pack!!!

Learn what resists are needed for an area......fire is bad in act 3,....diamonds or rubies or topax in shields are resisits, use it.....they always sell 3 socket kites and large shield in act 2 and a few chips is better than no resisits.

Use your head, improve life....you simply dont need much more than Vita while in Normal so pump it, most every build gets 250+ vita before it is done anyway so what is wrong with 100 of it real fast? The point isnt to kill fast, it is to live well long enuff to kill.

Hehe..Treehead Woodfist is the guy who guards the scroll in Darkwood..he is not one of the Council members...so taking him on at lv 20 should be doable.

"must resist urge to call Stinger a n00b"

sorry j/k :D

Exactly, dont rush it and you'll live longer. Create a game called Act3 no rush and you'll hopefully find a few peeps that are no rushers, if you play through act3 you'll get a ton of exp. Play it safe and as Stinger said, take lots and lots of pots. Also, if you are about to die, leave the game. Better to lose a good game and crew than dieing.

Last point, for all in earth. Dont get a hack like chicken hack and stuff like that. You wont feel happy at all if you reach higher lvls, knowing it was all thanx to a hack. Make yourself worth the highlvl

Heh... what's really funny about playing through Act 3 is how *fast* it can be. With a couple of companions and some fast walk boots, you can play through normal or nm act 3 in about an hour, and get nice exp in the process (go go flayer jungle!). If you figure that you're probably going to go back for the book and gidbinn at some point anyway, there's no reason to rush through.

I soloed norm act3, yeah it was norm, but its Act 3! in little under 1.5 hours. No wps until the end, all quests done. It was fun.

I'll spam over my post from another thread as its on point and...and...and...well its spam...what reason is needed...(BTW Cerb you in Asia now?)....

And now for the spam....

Everyone seems to hate Act3... but I actually think its one of the better acts. It can be challenging to find your through it all, especially if you have to go through the Great Marsh to get to Flayer. It has a nice variety of monsters that are occassionally in places they seem to belong (pygmys in the jungle, frogs out of the river, drowned corpses in the marsh, spiders in caverns etc). I usually do the whole act just so I can mule out the upgraded Khalims Will as it about the best weapon to start a new character with. Course by then I want someone to give me the wp as its a drag to do it twice with much less exp. the second time through.

A4 is actually one of the less interesting acts IMHO until you hit CS as its just clumps of monsters hanging out in ruined areas for no apparent reason. In act3 the monsters have more reason and purpose to their exisence (living out happy lives in little villages, sacrifices in the temples etc.).

I'm willing to bet I know the game just as well as you do so you and your negative attitude can blow me.

I played a SC orb sorc up to the mid 90's a few years ago that was enough SC for me

HAHAHA Det, not if he's level 20 and Treehead is the NM variety!

Treehead? or Stormtree, the tree boss that guards the gate to Lower Kurast?
LE, sometimes fast, always agro? I've had him chase me a full screen back into the jungle. That can get messy if you havn't cleared all the flayers. But there are ways around him.;)

Oh come on, he specifically said Treehead Woodfist.
Taking him on at lv 20 in NM and then coming here and ask for advice why you are dying..now THAT would be bold.

i think it is pretty clear the guy has already played SC.

Sc is not a good place to to learn how to play HC. There is only one good place and he is there.

Well I have been playing HC for 3 days and my 4 1st chars died at 20,18,19,20. It was really frustrating but I was too reckless, as SC is soo suicidal fast paced. My last(and best effort) is a elemental charges sin who remains alive in lvl 26. I have reached river of flame but I still level up in bazaar of Kurast. It is quite manageable, there are chances of regular bosses and each temple contains a bonus pack, in 6+ players game it has worked okay for me, and much safer than Trav

Nice work on making an adjustment as it shows you have learned from your losses. HC will either make you or break you, you either adjust or leave.

BTW, I bet in time you will find out that people in HC play just as fast a pace as they do in SC but they build better and dont play sucidal.

I am the slowest player there is HC or SC. "Come via".."come via" repeated over and over. This is not cautiousness. This is because I just can't stand running by an unopened chest or casket etc without popping it...even if we are rushing.

You always should be a little higher level than the area you're in. This implies that you are going to do exp runs all the time before advancing. A couple of extra levels do more good than just a bit vita exta usually (chance to hit and stuff like that)
