After all my years of playing Diablo 2 Sunday was a banner day in the world of " no way did they just say that "

1) While questing act 3 ( gasp ) with my necromancer another character joins and says i have Trav wp lets go, i figure atleast ill have that wp so i can backtrack to get other parts of the flail. So we kill the council and he says ok now Meph, i inform him that you either need the Durance 2 wp or a complete falil to enter to which he replies where do you get the flail? This game is far too old to still have newbies im sorry.

2) The 2nd i didnt witness first hand but was relayed to me by Minion. A Necromancer asked him if the amp damage curse was worth getting or not.
Never mind that it is the pre req for almost every curse on that tab but early on that curse is invaluable.

sigh and my wife wonders why i drink....... :drink:

I drink while wondering why I have a wife!!! :) :drink:

You know, i have sepnt basically the last 2 years running into 1-2 people a month that didnt know how to get all the pieces to the flail or once it is made what the hell are they suppose to do with it.

YOu know, I still run into people that dont do the book quest for 5 stat points.........But it takes so long, you have to go thru all 6 temples.......It is always in Bazaar and it is always in the Ruined temple!!!

Whats a gidbin? Where is that? Wow, why did he give me this ring? You get rings for doing that? This unique Weapon sucks!

I hate the one trick sorc in hell. Basically, blizzard sorc's who can't do much against cold immunes. Heck most of them won't even static. :grrr:

Remember kids, you always need a backup plan.

Static....is that really worth getting???

Nah...not having it makes it easier to leech safely in the background.

TY guys for covering a few that I missed!!!

Ever kill cold immunes with CHain Lightning in Hell on a Blizz sorc? I do it all the time solo........Doesnt work as well in Xpac since static is nerfed, but my Merc sure kills em faster from 1/2 life than full life wiht my 1 point invested in static!

BTW, nice work in Asia Viamede......I stopped in to be greated with a nice 4k ping last night!!! Saw DON lvlin away on his barb and i guess Flash may play there full time now although I have seen him on East a little.

It was funny, a few people saw me on my ladder 1 sorc in channel, hell I dont even remember them and they wer offering me items to come to Asia and play a sorc!!! Shard and Angelics were offered......hell I was tempted!

Oh ya, my new Blizz build is working out most excellently, if you get freaky to build one holler.....same build can work wiht Orb also.

Yeah I was number one Zon for about 1/2 a day thanks to Don and Flash helping me out. Then I go off for a social gathering to return to find myself about 15 levels in 2nd place to a zon that wasn't even on the ladder when I left :D . I presume she must have gotten rushed and then been NM cowing or CSing away. I was just going to use this one to find stuff in NM to start out some other characters (was not planning on takin her into hell anyway).

Will definitely build one of each class eventually (already have em named..going pretty much all native tribes this time for a theme) but type of build is somewhat open depending on what drops. May do blizz sorc (was the plan...getting a bit tired of orb) or may go enchant to help in next Asian challenge.

I've played D2 since day one.

I've made exactly 1, yes that's O ... N .... E .... Kahlims (sp?) flail.

I've had lots of miscellaneous eyes, hearts, and brains laying around, but I almost never had to build the whole thing before someone comes in with durance (old days) or Trav + durance (1.10).

That quest is way too long and boring for my taste. If it were in act4 it would be fine, act4 is fun to play. But I absolutely hate act3 with a vengeance.

Yep, I never make the flail either. Joining any game you can ask for the durance two wp (nicely) and they will give it if they got it. I have made one or two though lol, can't imagine not even knowing what it was. I have only made them as starter weapons for twinks though, not the pleasure of bashing the orb.

Everyone seems to hate Act3... but I actually think its one of the better acts. It can be challenging to find your through it all, especially if you have to go through the Great Marsh to get to Flayer. It has a nice variety of monsters that are occassionally in places they seem to belong (pygmys in the jungle, frogs out of the river, drowned corpses in the marsh, spiders in caverns etc). I usually do the whole act just so I can mule out the upgraded Khalims Will as it about the best weapon to start a new character with. Course by then I want someone to give me the wp as its a drag to do it twice with much less exp. the second time through.

A4 is actually one of the less interesting acts IMHO until you hit CS as its just clumps of monsters hanging out in ruined areas for no apparent reason. In act3 the monsters have more reason and purpose to their exisence (living out happy lives in little villages, sacrifices in the temples etc.). ;)

You my friend have missed out on the best exp in the game at the right lvls other than leeching in the right place. i cant count the numbers of lvls I have gained and the drops that can come from Flayer Jungle lvlin runs not to mention tomb running.

The only problem wiht Act 3 is spending 30 mins trying to find Flayer and find out you screwed up and passed it like 5 mins into your journey. Frankly Act 3 is the best Act in the game over all. Act 4 is good lvling, Act 5 can be fun but it is pretty long, much longer than Act 3.

I have put together and smashed so many orbs I cant put a number on it. I have also skipped it but normally not.

Some of the best times in this game are in the Dungeon and Sewers and Temples in that Act.

Act 3 may be great experience and it may be one of the most realistic acts, but it STILL sucks! :D

Cows give more exp than act3 for the builds I like (javazon + others). My friend or I will drive the javazon, and the other person drives the other char. Its not really leeching by the non-javazon as our support characters (BO barb, enchantress, telesorc, necro help out in one way or another.
bo barb = you know why this helps
enchantress = you know why this helps
necro = doing ancients primarily.
telesorc = finding bosses/waypoints/rushing
javazon = killing basically everything faster than any other build (esp with enchant).

99% of what I hate about diablo2 is finding the !@#$^^&#$ waypoints. I swear I have been sorely tempted to d/l maphack just for finding waypoints. Act3 exaccerbates this problem to a level almost untolerable to me. (dark wood is also amazingly annoying to find the first time).

Only once I had a telesorc did I ever bother to get most of the act3 waypoints in season 1. But even then I never played it, even to get the 'book' except for one of my chars who was running short on statpoints for wearing equipment.

You cow in hell for exp?

I find it interesting how many people will bypass the book quest, but look to improve their equipment by the smallest amounts to improve. Those 15 points are worth 30, 45, and 60 depending on the char, if you just put them in vit.

For hc chars, act3 is the most challenging (dungeons, sewers, temples). Also, the best acts to farm gc skillers are in act3 (marsh and jungle).

I still like Act 3 and do it solo everytime because some jerk will come along and kill the Council. What's so bad about Act 3? Lots of monsters to kill, excellent drop odds, etc. I know, I know, it's all about doing Baal runs as soon as you hit level 20.

Those Baal runs are 10 times more exciting than ANY Act 3 quest. Low odds of dying, lots of experience, only takes 3 hours to go from 25 to 45. Holy cow, I guess I'm missing something! Gimme Act 3 over any other act any day. I just wish they would have made the Khalim's Will a requirement to talk to Cain. Sewers 2, Spider Cavern, and Flayer Dungeon are NOT THAT HARD people.

EDIT: Oh yeah, ask me for Trav when I'm in game. You'll get Travincal, just not where you wanted it.

You cow in hell for exp?

No, but I consider lvl 85+ to be 'high enough' for my purposes. So I substitute eld/shenk/pindle/meph/andy/pit in place of cows in hell. Anyway, my guess is act3 doesn't compare to the endless baal runs in terms of exp gain/time.

However, I WAS known for doing hell cows with my gold find javazon ... :) Major amounts of moo-lah! (ack sorry for the pun)
