Ok I don't know if these guys are ********ting or not but I got invited by my friend to a private game where they say they were "glitching" the experience gained. Heres how they explained it:

Act 5 Baal Minion
Full Group of people.
When the first set comes a person leaves and rejoins after the second set is dead.
+20% experience...

They said it's a proven glitch but I really don't believe it. Didn't get a chance to experience it since they couldn't get a full group. They seemed pretty private too and not so much like morons.

Thoughts?

This is a well known bug from Ladder 1, at least among those who Baal for a living. It makes a HUGE difference at level 98.

Has it been fixed in Ladder 2? I don't know, I haven't tested it, but I always try it, assuming that it does.

IIRC, the bug was with the Act 2 minions. If there were 8 people in a party down there, you would only get 1 experience point for each one killed. If one person upartied, however, so there are 7 or less people in the party, the experience for killing them is normal. Then the person joins the party again after the Act2 minions are dead.

This only helped increase the experience of the people still in the party, and did not affect the experience after that or anything else. Therefore, the person unpartying actually hurts himself, but not by much (because you only don't get like 15 experience). And, since the Act 1, 2, and 3 minions give a ton less of experience than the Act 4 / Wave 5 minions, it really didn't help that much anyway.

So, 1 person unparties if there are 8 people = a little more experience for the 7 people still in the party, a very little less experience for the person unpartying, but only for the Act 2 minions.

There might have been some other bug that gave you more experience for the whole thing, but I think it was just this relatively minor bug blown out of proportion.

If this is fixed, then about all the Baal games in hardcore are wrong. We all do this trick!

And if the lowest lvl doesn't unparty at 2nd minions, there is often someone to call him names.

However, it is know to be a 10% exp gain. Not 20%

I tried this last night and it works wonders!
I'm lvl 84:
In 6 player baal run, all partied and I got ~250K exp from second wave.
In 8 player baal run, 1 person unpartied just before second wave came and I got ~1.5M exp!!!
A lot more than 20% and definately worth doing :)
My guess is when one person is unpartied, the partied players receive exp as if they killed all monsters by themselves, IOW, lots!

Hmm this isnt really a bug its part of gameplay.

When all 8 players in game its split, in order of level it depends on how much,
*killer almost always gets more exp*
But if you say only had 4 players in party within the throne and 4 players wherever unpartied not killing the minions your exp gain would be significantly higher because the exp has only been split 4 ways instead of 8... Think of it as a cake if this helps...
Mmm cake

One problem with your theory, this 'bug' only works with the second wave of minions. (not that I've tested it with other waves, but that's what everyone says).

Not sure, it works for them all and they dont really unparty for first wave because well they give no exp :)
