Moving up in the MFing world: Beyond NM Meph

So far this ladder season I've been mfing nm meph with great success with a blizzard sorc. I have found 3 mules worth of items from him. Lots of excep uniques, etc.

I'm looking to take my mfing a step higher, but I'm not really sure where to go or what character to use.

I could try Hell Meph, but with a sorc it is suicide without godly gear. Trying to do it with a barb is an option, but will take forever due to the size of durance 2.

I could try moving to NM Pindle or Hell pindle. These seem like a good bet. I've just never really liked running pindle, it seems boring. Can a blizz sorc be a good hell pindle runner?

Are there any other areas that are good for mf? Tell me about your plans for mf!

Blizz sorc is awesome for ancient tunnel runs. Rarely any cold immunes.

Hell pindle is vaaary dangerous for any sorc. He can pop up cold immune and you'll have to flux, fanta and you can be 1-hit KO'd, cursed, same, ect ect ect.... I'd stick with nm meph and just make a new MF char better suited to some form of hell run.

Yeah, Hell Andy. Before the reset I had a Clvl 88 Blizzard Sorc that did alot of Hell Andy. I found alot of shako's and occy's and a bunch of other items. I've come to the conclusion though that the big, heavy uniques can't be dropped by her. Not only MF'ing but she leveled from 63-81 doing pure Hell Andy mf runs. Not bad I say... :thumbsup:

You hardly need godly gear to run Hell Meph with a Bliz Sorc. All you need is good blocking, good resistance to fire/cold/lightning, and a total of at least 63% faster cast rate. Gear to aim for would be Vipermagi, Wizzy and Whitstan's shield. Throw in a few single resist charms and a bit of dexterity, and you're already ready already... already.

Kinda what Phat trumpet said, but i would go so far as to say you dont even need good block (though if you dont have block you should have alot of life/mana/ ES). Teleporting meph is the dangerous part, but if you can get decent FHR, good resists, and 105% FCR you will be in good shape to run meph.

And to add to what prez said, ancient tunnels are a good place to run also, as you will level there and anything can drop there.

Just as a note, i am waiting on the high resistance/fcr/fhr stuff for my sorceress as well before i move onto hell meph. one nice thing is caster belts, craft them and you can get some good stuff (Fcr, mana, belts often get life / fhr as well which is stuff that sorc's need.)

63% is good enough to tele through packs and not get attacked. The other day I was walking Hell Andy runs pretty easily... I wouldn't recommend teleing just yet unless you're fast at juving/fluxing. Fanat tainted can kill you easily.

I have a bliz sorc non ladder (old ladder) and her merc just held andy there while I snuck up behind her ... static'd 4-5 times then snuck away and bliz'd her my merc is a barb ... his name is Uther ...

Feed your merc a few health pots while he holds her, then bliz spike spike spike - bliz spike spike spike - bliz .... repeat as needed

my Sorc on east ladder uses gear that gives her 60 lightning 45 cold resist, 690 LIFE 280 MANA 50% FCR 10%FHR 96% MF NO BLOCK NO DR and i am just lvl 72
No i dont use maphack, and i've been doing hell mephisto, i wont admit its not hard but godly gear like oculus and stuff you do NOT need, i started hell mephisto with ZERO FAST cast and 550 life at lvl 71, thats right,, thankfully within 10 runs i found suicide branch and later on frostburns

Just learn to play sorceress, you have the skill called teleport, there is no excuses not to do hell mephisto you just need to have confidence in your ability.

oh Yea and i am NOT a blizzard sorc, i teleport over and 20-30 orb mephisto. 1 row of full rejuvs, 1 of greater healing, 2 of super mana

I'm not gonna lie i have fluxed many times, but nm mephisto is ridicolous, 45 runs without an exceptional unique = no thanks

While I have no doubt you have skill with sorcs you also were a bit lucky. With those stats any number of things could have caused you to die in less than the amount of time it would have taken for you to flux. Grats though on the finds you did make. BTW If I can do 5 nm meph runs with little or no real danger in the amount of time it takes you to do 1 hell run, I bet I end up on top......

For cold sorcs, one also wants to keep in mind the Crypt and Mausoleum. Anything can drop in the Maus., and nearly anything in the Crypt, and just about everything is lightning immune.

I found 2x Tal ammys of NM meph in One week. Other stuff found in about 200 NM meph runs:

Soj
Shaft
Skulders
Viper
Occy
TGods
Raven
Dwarf
More...

I'd suggest sticking with NM Meph. On hell all you need is one big lag spike and with less than 800 life and no DR your toast.

That was in session one. My gear was:

Tal Mask
Tal Orb
Tal Belt
Nat Armor (3 topaz)
Rare boots
mana ring/Dwarf
A +1 sorc ammy with resists
Rhyme

With charms I had about 200 mf and 50-60 resists, and I was able to build from there with trading.

Too many people disregard NM as a legit place to mf. Can NM Meph drop shako... no, SS... no, Tal armor... no. But It never took me very long to find the stuff I needed move to hell Meph.

i will requote and point out the issues i have with your post.

First statemnet is attacking everyone that has tried to help this guy by keeping him is a good place to ge tthe best possible stuff with the least chance of dieing due to not haveing the best gear.

0 fast cast and teleporting is not just an error it is stupidity

I dont think anyone is this damn thread doesnt know a sorc cant teleport. True many people around dont play sorcs well but even the ones that play them poorly know that you need FCR and FHR to have a good chance at a safe run. Also the "Just learn to play sorcs" line also attacks all those trying to help this guy.

Now to finalize my quotation, your last statement about fluxing many times simply doesnt work for most people. Most people that play this game have less than optimum computer and connections. With that in mind fluxin in many situatiosn will simply give you an invisible ghost.


Now to finalize.......i simply restate exactly what i stated in my previous post and stand by it 100%!

A "good" build doesnt require "Godly" gear and max rez and some MF with good FCR and some FHR is VERY attainable in this game with simply using your freaking brain.
