WASHINGTON - Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry has chosen his former rival for the party's nomination, Senator John Edwards, as his running mate, US television networks reported Tuesday.
You heard it hear first folks.

Damn, beat me to it!
Woo! This makes me feel better. Wish they'd switch the names on the ticket though . . .
Good call on Kerry's part. Edwards gives the Democrats the best possible ticket going into the November election.
Now we get to see:
1) A massive GOP PAC smear campaign against Edwards; after all he was a trial lawyer and is young.
2) What will be a lively debate between Edwards and Cheney. I hope Dick's potty mouth stays home.
3) A surge in the polls in the next 2 weeks for Kerry/Edwards.
4) Smeg denying/ignoring that he ever said Hillary Clin-Ton would be a nominee.
5) Republicans whining/bashing, both here and abroad.
6) Democrats gloating/defending, both here and abroad.
7) Whether Cheney manages to stay on the ticket.
8) Me laughing at the absurdity of being given a 'choice' for president.

Really? I thought everyone liked Edwards. ^_^
Smartest move he could have made. Gephardt has too many skeletons in his closet (Edwards has virtually none), and Hillary is unelectable. Of course, Edwards or Lieberman would have been better choices as the presidential candidate, but hey...they don't let me make those decisions.
EDIT: Don't know if the link will still be active by the time you read this, but the New York Post's front page story names Gephardt as the veep candidate (http://www.nypost.com/news/nationalnews/26839.htm). Check your sources, NYP!
I like how Kerry sent e-mails out to his supporters before announcing his choice.
A nice touch for his base electorate.

I'm not denying it. Now go help find the worst Hillary pic for my avatar.
What this means is we have the most polarized ticket we could ever hope for. A true liberal vs. conservative decision in November. This election will dictate the direction the country goes for generations.

actually, I think Hilary just got kicked in the balls

Yeah, it's her fault you made an assinine bet. You let your hate toward Sen. Clin-Ton get the best of you. Kudos on actually admitting you were wrong, though; don't think I've seen you do that before - despite the numerous opportunities ;)

Or 4 to 8 years, whichever comes first.

Lol. I saw the picture of the front page on drudgereport.com.
I loved the caption:
"No No No NO!!!"
:drink: :drink: <-- A coupla beers for the 2 Johns
I think this is a good choice on Kerry's part.

If he had any sense, he'd have picked John Breaux from Louisiana...now THAT is an electable Democrat. To conservative for the mainstream Dems, though.
Although I am a Conservative and a Republican AND a Bush voter, I do like Edwards' style. I disagree with him on substance, but at least he knows how to act in public, and doesn't seem to try to make his arguments personal. Too few politicians from BOTH parties possess this skill. This was one of the defining characteristics of Ronald Reagan, and one of the things that made him so universally respected.
