View Full Version : Help me with my tesladin
My tesladin lvl 86 is using a CMPB (ITD)
but he still misses a lot against Uber/Meph he has about 2k AR (i know that is too low)
is that the effect of ITD will not be shown on Attack Rating?
Here are my gears (i dont have any better)
Shield :500Def Exile with 5x all resistances
Helmet : Delirium Grand Crown
Armor: Superior Archon Plate Engima
Rings: 1 raven frost+1dwarf star(or SOJ or some rare ring)
Amuet: rare +1 skills 1x all resistance sth else
Gloves and Belt: +70%MF belt (Just for Andy Meph PindleRUN)
In fact i can switch to Mavina Belt Gloves and Helmet so that i can hv 50% more AR but it looks :grrr: (Can you plz suggest some better Helmet/gloves/belt?)
should i invest more on zeal? or Dex(i dont think it will work)
i had max HL RL salvation 1x points in HOly SHield some points in zeal already
Thx very much
Try with a demon limb. Maybe helps i bit...
Ignore Target Defense (ITD), if I'm not mistaken, only works on NON-superunique monsters.
Or, in other words, it only works on regular monsters, and the ones of the Fanatic/Beserker/Ghostly/Champion variety. It won't work on monsters like Shenk, Eldritch, Pindleskin, nor will it work on any of the act bosses like Mephisto or Diablo Clone. This is why you're not hitting Dclone or Mephisto much. You can try using a 6 socket Phase Blade with four Eth runes in it, and two Shael's. You'll hit anything pretty much every time, but you'll miss out on static. Then again, with the Holy Shock aura, you'll still do about 2500 average damage every hit you make.
The affects of ITD are not shown on your AR in your character screen.
If you ask me, it seems like you're not poor at all when I look at your gear. For a belt, I'd suggest something like Verdungo's. I guess if you wanted higher damage, Arachnid could work. Because leech was nerfed so badly, and a Tesladin really has no chance at doing any leech period since he does minimal physical damage, I like having Dracul's Grasp for gloves, because of the life tap and open wounds.
You are righ MrPipes ITD does not work on super unique monsters. I don't know if it works vs champions.
Demond limb is a nice suggestion on switch, also if you can fit them in your setup Angelic ammy and ring give a huge attack rating bonus. Using a blessed aim merc could be another option. If you are rich enough equipe him with a doom polmarm weapon.
As fas as leech is concerned, he should have a problem with that when using an Exile shield. The chance of casting life tap on that shield is pretty high and from my experience it casts almost every zeal sequence.

The last I heard, I think ITD DOESN'T work on any uniques, meaning the regular spawns (like dark slayer or magi howler) and the champion variety as well as the super uniques.
And, no, ITD does not show in the stats chart.
using +AR gear is somewhat difficult to achieve decent ar with a tesladin, especially since you need it most against hell baal, who happens to have higher defense than any other monster :)
4 cheap eth runes in a fast weapon will solve all your problems. If you are lucky it can even be a +3 holy shock mighty scepter. Keep one of those in your inventory or on switch to flick on for bosses.
Same for PvP.

HoZ has the great + skills to help your zeal and HS, and it comes with a bonus % to attack rating, I don't think you really need the defiance aura in PvM. You might want to drop the dwarf and go for another Rfrost, those add a really nice ammount of AR. You might also want to look for "sharp small charms of (whatever)," they also add AR.
Thx guys u are nice
it seems that a 4eth+2Sheal Phase blade is good against Boss but i havent found one PB with 6 sockets i'll try to get it
Compared with Crescent Moon it lacks that -35 lightning resistance and Static field so i will use CMPB against Monster and another phase blade for boss
but i have to give up that CtaPB(+6 BO) which is my switch weapon
HoZ gives 20% AR it's pretty good but i havent got one :D in fact where can have the biggest chance to drop a HoZ and Offensive aura GCs ?
i heard that someone can cube it <== I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF IT :P

It's either in my head or actually works, but I used to press "w" to switch to "random shield, random eth weapon, conviction aura" set, hit a bad dude few times and switch back =)
Oh yeah, the conviction can be a +1 from a scepter if you didn't put a skillpoint in it =)
I experienced the same chances-to-hit shortage with my tesladin. Against mephisto hell my primary attack is at 50% and my secondary one (headstriker + maxed fanaticism) stops at a mere +65%. Big charms and enchant charges do not seem to add more than a +10%,and it's not worth it in my opinion. In fact I think mephisto's resistances add to the problem and negate all the effectiveness of our tesladins,as long as nobody discovers a way to flash effectively conviction again. On the other side, the banal phisical output from my secondary weapon, with its +15%AR more, seems to devastate him: for meph runs I'm using an headstriker + HOZ as primary setup (+MF arms as secondary) because it can always kill him in 15 seconds (at five fps). 15 minutes shorter than my usual CMPB.

I'd say its just in your head...
having conviction would not help at all, not to mention if you get it from a scepter then you couldnt be doing any decent damage now can you :)
but, I do agree that an eth weapon is probably the best solution here. If worst comes to worst a 4 socket long sword only takes up 4 spaces and youc an keep it in your inventory (while your secondary weapon goes on switch)

This is what you do. Get a DEMONLIMB and keep it in your inventory. When you do Battle Orders as PREBUFF, then switch to your CMPB. UN-Equip the PB and equip the DEMONLIMB. Cast ENCHANT and place DEMONLIMB back into inventory and place CMPB in hand. This will in crease your attack rating by about 17% for around 10 minutes.
NEXT, hire an act 2 NORMAL or HELL Blessed Aim Mercenary. This will boost your ATTACK RATING by a bit more. My co-built TESLADIN is as follows:
-20 Holy Shock
-20 Resist Lightning
-10 Resist Fire
-10 Resist Cold
-5 Zeal
-3 Conviction
-1 Vengeance
-1 Holy Shield (and all pre-req's)
This means that as you level, if you prefer to be more DEFENSIVE, then you can invest in Holy Shield. If you prefer to be more OFFENSIVE, then you can invest in ZEAL.
Holy Freeze and Defiance merc's are of value as well, but if AR is your gripe then Blessed Aim is the way to go....
-20 Holy Shock
-20 Resist Lightning
-10 Resist Fire
-10 Resist Cold
-5 Zeal
-3 Conviction
-1 Vengeance
-1 Holy Shield (and all pre-req's)
I am happy to see that I am not the only one to use that skill configuration, many peeps don't like it but it works pretty well as a backup attack and makes you paladin much more versatile. That was the first skill allocation I used to deal with lightning immune monsters with the first few Tesladins I have made and I still think it's a viable route.

It isnt a bad back-up attack at all...considering we will be equipping this character with a FAMINE ettin axe and Tiamat's Rebuke on switch. This should provide all the ELEMENTAL DAMAGE necessary to make this skill particularly viable. Also, we keep a DEMONLIMB in this character's inventory in order to pre-buff with ENCHANT. It boosts this TESLADIN's AR by 17%.

It's great advice...however, a MIGHTY SCEPTER has a maximum of 2 sockets. Perhaps space meant another scepter...WAR SCEPTER perhaps?

A Caduceus can get 5 sockets and is pretty fast (-10 base speed)

I am looking forward to see that guide and see what you guys come up with.
