hi all i am new to this forum :howdy:
i want to ask a newb question
i am making a PvM hammerdin which is going to MAX Vigor Blessed Aim Blessed Hammer
i want to ask why most guides suggest using Concentration but not Fanaticism ? Fanaticism does more dmg and increases Attack speed for Smite :innocent:
Can anyone explain about Concentration "chance
that the attack will be interrupted for you and your party "?

Concentration is the only aura that adds damage to your hammers.

Chance that attack is non interruptable.
When you are attacking, if you are hit by an opponent during your swing, before you hit them then your attack is interruptable, and you will stop your swing. With a 20% chance that it is non interruptable there is a 20% chance that even though you are hit mid swing you will continue your attack.

As for the damage, it seems that concentration is not a "melee damage only" aura. Either that, or blessed hammer is considered melee, that is, when you use hammers with concentration on, it increases your hammer damage as it would with a melee attack. I personally think its a bug, but if it is, its an accepted one. That's why everyone recommends concentration when using hammers.. extra damage.

Concentration is the only aura which enhances hammer damage. I was initially tempted to think that it was a bug, but I no longer am so sure, because concentration will only add 1/2 the listed bonus to your hammers. Eg. with slvl 20 concentration you get a listed bonus of +350% damage. Let's say your hammers do 200 damage alone. Rather than getting 200*4.5=900 damage per hammer, you get 200*4.5/2=450 damage per hammer. For this to happen I think blizzard must have coded it in deliberately... can't be sure of course.
As to the smite speed, if you intend to use smite as your main melee attack just grab a superfast weapon and ignore the damage... it doesn't matter anyway:)

Initially it was a bug, but they never fixed it as hammers would be underpowered without something enhancing their damage.

in classic fana does add dmg to hammer :P (or its a display bug, i have a classic hammerdin with fana and does more dmg than conc 8) )
In the early days of classic, the hammerdin was a build that was mostly overlooked. The damage WAS bugged to work with auras, but was not displayed correctly. The build used concentration because pre-LoD fanatacism only added to attack speed. I believe that Blizz added the 1/2 effectiveness of the Concentration aura for hammers as a tribute to old school hammerdins, and to keep them from being overpowered...and as you can tell, hammerdins are clearly pathetic... /sarcasm

I never thought hammerdins where over looked in the old days of 1.04.
