PvP Smiter Help needed

On a smite pally what weapon is the most IDEAL to use? I understand that IAS playes a big role. Is a 6 SOC phase blade with shaels or something ok?
i was also looking at doom because it has a nice damage for charge (back up skill).
Also doom has freeze aura ( big Ohh...) and that might come EXTREMLY help full for those silly teling BS spamming necros most of us hate. :rant:

6 socket phase blade with shaels might be a little extreme. A Silence weapon would maybe be good (+40% IAS) placed in a phase or one of the exceptional/normal versions of that weapon. Beyond that you just want to get something which will give you maxed attack speed; since you'll probably want to use fanatacism you won't need as much from equipement. Maybe a 6 socket phase blade with a few shaels and some useful jewels would be best, since I suspect some of the shaels would be redundant.
BTW the "Add Damage" mod on a weapon will apply to smite as well. I've even heard, though I can't confirm, that this added damage is NOT subject to the 1/6 reduction for PvP. Weapons with this mod include The Redeemer (which sadly has a relatively slow attacking speed...) nonentheless it might be a good choice as it is possible to max attack speed anyway.

u might want to try maxing defiance instead of fanaticism and using beast.I find that to work extremely well against them botd barbs

The extra damage is not a rumor, it has been tested here in the forums. What I am not sure of is whether ethereal weapons will do more damage if they have the +damage mod (not the same as +xx to +xx damage).

Punisher, only the elite version of the crystal has -30 base speed, so Phase blade all the way ^^

lacerator is almost a guaranteed kill.
heck, if you can get your hands on an ethereal one you can 1/2 synergize charge and use that too :O

a doom zerk is also a good choice, imo not as effective as lacerator

a rose branded ws/ds/caddy of quick with good +skills could work, you could even pull 2 sockets out of it and stack some more CB on yourself or something

redeemer is always an option, but hasnt been alltogether effective in my experience with it, same for asterons

you could use something rediculous like a ber-ber-ber-ber-ber-um phase blade, too :thumbsup:

i will now be flamed for suggesting you use lacerator/doom/asterons.

:edit: the freeze effect from doom will effect run/walk and attack speed only. not cast rate :|

i think fleshrippers a nice little wepon as well, its fast and has some useful mods like 50% OW however it does have slow on it which if that works with smite (cant remmember atm think it does :scratch: ) isnt liked/accepted in duels less its pubbie :thumbsup:
