What does the 20 light absorb on tgods mean? it doesnt say percent, but i have a foh, and i know ppl who wear it are not taking just 20 dmg off my attack...so can someone clue me in to what items that just say a number to absorb really mean? thanks

It basically prevents 20 dmg from the lightning based attack, and if you survive that attack you get 20 hp back. This is a lot better than most people think for PvM and PvP. For example, if Gloams weren't bugged they would only do 42-108 dmg, so preventing 20 dmg and after that regaining 20 hp would either almost ignore it or prevent half of its dmg. This is with 0% lightning resist.
In pvp, you mostly use it to absorb Templars, light sorc and light trappers. Now, they can do as much as 3.5K (templar) to 17K (sorc) and uhm, i don't know how much trappers can do :D . After PvP penalty that's 875 and 4250. Now count your res all (conviction for templar ofcourse, but you can absorb that too) lets say 75 res all = 218 and 1062 left. Say you have a whisp with 20% light absorb= 174 dmg and 845 dmg( not counting the life you gain again because that will only work if you survive the hit, but you would gain 43 and 212 ). Then your Tgod starts his job. He absorbs 20 straight dmg from both= 154 and 825 left. Then, you gain the 63 and 232 hp. So the final dmg done after a major hit from lightning based attacks would be 91 and 593, which is a lot less than the original attack ;)

unfortunately, absorb comes before resists :(

take 3000 lightning damage, 75 resists, and tgods

3000 - 40 = 2960 (20 abs = -40 damage from tgods)
2960 x .25 = 740 (75 resists)

3000 x .25 = 750 (just resists, no tgods)

tgods only reduces damage by 10 more than resists alone once resists are factored in. you would be better off wearing a life item like verdungos at that point.

flat absorb items like tgods are really only useful for pvm where the damage is low but the frequency of attacks is high. %absorb items like wisp are always useful of course.

Unless they changed this in 1.1 plain absorb comes after resist / pvp penalty / etc. %absorb doesn't make any difference at all where you calculate it ofcourse.

Well my foh does 5k dmg, without conviction on. Generally, i can even 1 hit kill without conviction on. WIth, even few barbs live. When wearing tgods though, they all survive, with about 1/3rd life...its odd.....seems like a lot more than 20 dmg is absorbed
