My 4 friends and I are planning to make sorcs in the new ladder and get a head start in mf and quickly get rich.
LOL I can picture 60+% ppl making sorcs in the new patch. Im making a blizzard sorc and so is one of my friend. The other 3 are making pure fire.
Hmm I wish to see full 8 player games all sorc..
What char u making in the new ladder??
Some suggestions are:
Fishymancer
Javazon (mostly LF)
Trapsin
Most Sorc Variant
Hammerdin??
well, i won't start anything til i get back to college on the LAN because i don't dare play much on dialup. that would be the end of august before i can start playing. i just hope thats not too much after the season starts.
i have always leaned toward casters. i think i will finally make the fireball/orb sorc i've been thinking about. iether that or the orb/ES combo.
but if they go in and revamp fend i will have to make a fendazon. i have one from 09 that uses titans and has 900 life and 25% LL. its really really amusing to be able to sit there attacking with a screen full of cows around me. the life bubble fluctuates between 1/3 and full like a hyperactive rabbit. the problem is that none of the cows die because i don't deal near enough dmg.

I will remake my blizz sorc for meph and pindle runs, and fishymancer for pit runs.

Hammerdins are WAY too item dependent. Sorcs will rule the initial months of the new ladder, period.
I am probably going to make a FO/CL sorc. I love orb, and I love lightning; I can't go wrong!

The few other nonitem dependent characters should also do alright.
Wind/Fire Druid (more Wind)
fireclaws bear
Frost/Shock Zealot
Umm, I'm sure there's more but those just come to mind.
The only character that at least doesn't have a variant up here is Barb. And I just don't see a good way to make a nonitem dependent barb.
I'm going to be a Fishymancer for fun and MFing though. He should do more than alright with only a few items.

Lightning Trappers (Very easy accessable gear. Just get gold and go to Anya.)

A trapper would do good but i like my character to be able to fend for him/herself with immunes so ill go the usual meteorb sorc.

I'm going with the Extra-Ordinaire Blizzard/FireWall.
Perfectly balanced, it beats any other sorc build I've tried.
(you can see more details in my reply to the "Fire and ice build" thread)

I also wouldn't be surprised if 7 out of 8 players in a game will have the name "something, something -mf". Many lousy names a la sorc, fire/cold, and mf
Fire_sorcizMF
xColDx_mf
BurningSorc-mf
MF_sorcxx
etc..
will be like the only names...

look up in the sp forum or the strategy section on d2.net. ;)
Nah sorc is way to much item dependent built - better choice is hammerdin - cheap like a durt...
To get things rolling all your need
peasant crown, viper, suicide branch, nightsmoke, any rare +2 skill paladins sheild, 2X 10FCR rings, any +1 skill amulet and you already can solo hell in 1 player game - no problem with resistances or AR what so ever
oh ya almost fogot hammerdin is finished by lvl 78 in its offesnsive part - no other class can finish built early then that (well save furysin)
Blizzard is a bad spell in hell unless pimped out.
if it doesnt kill, it doesnt at all chill. 1 second is it. thats nothing on ladder speeds.
on non ladder I had a freaky sick blizzard, killed meph in 1 1/2 blizards. however, got tired of it and switched to other things. one skill tree offers too many frustrations. I am thinking a meteorb or fireball/chain with a HF merc. FCR is annoying though to factor in, the only major drawback to these build types.
meteorb is probably the king of untwinked ladder lameness.
worst is a bowazon. good gosh they suck and are 100% item dependent.

Amazons in general are screwed. Whenever i play them, if it says chance to hit 95%, it is really like 65% it is pathetic

The full guide for it is in the strategy compendium and there is also one in the necro forum.

I'd say Javazons and Magazons can play pretty well untwinked too... :uhhuh:
Personally I think I'll make a Bone/Summoner or Hammerdin, I'll reach 99 first this time.

Umm...You can make a VERY effective kicker build with fewer than 50 points.

not item dependant????? its not like those 4 uniques you mentioned drop like flies 8) Between with that setup i can solot Sorc Hell aswell. So i guess unless you are maxing damage none of those builds are items dependant :p
Personal preference: Meteorb. Blizzball.
Archmage is sadly out of the question until the right gear comes along.

Hammerdins are not that item dependant. A simple Spectral Shard, Suicide Branch or Wizard Spike is all you really need for the 50% fcr. With that and whatever gear you find/trade along the way while questing will be good enough. Ideal? Of course not, but we're not talking ideal gear. That's how I did it with my hammerdin and it really wasn't that much of a problem at all.

Like everyone else I will be running a sorc (max vita blizz) to get some good base items, then with a bit of help i will be at hell meph in a couple of days. In the first season I started with a Hammerdin but with no tele I found mf'ing slow. I just hope that they don't nerf these builds, or the xp bonus from baals minions, without telling us (although if they did I would give 10 out of to 10 to blizzard for their sense of humour).

i am going meteorb. should i get max block or put those points in vitality instead?
Haha ppl untwinked hammerdin just use different area alike sorc for MF and 2 places are really cheesy and extremely fast
Chaos sanctuary - with any teleporting items (like amulet for example) and very basic equipment hammerdin can clean whole place in less then 3 min (kill bosses at seals) and teleport on top of diablo (he die in less then 4 second to 11k hammer/75FCR). Totaly untwinked hammerdin will most likely have around 5K damage hammer with around 48-75FCR (10-11FPC)
Other place that suit ideal for none teleporting hammerin is Shrenk/Eldrich (take less then 15 second to kill both)
Last place which is extremely nice for cash (for gambling), gems, GC and occasional rare/set/uniques and high runes is travis
Much like for sorcs Mephisto is bread and bitter for MFing for hammerdins Diablo is
I intentionally left assasins out of list and for a reason.... They are durable - maxed fade aura grant you +20PDR/50+ resist all, toss here cloack of shadow (total immunity against all missles), toss here mind blast (cannt be resisted) ... you got picture .... But unfortunally they not fast killers - those assasins who have area attacks gear dependent - those who not gear dependent dont have any attacks that allow you kill large group of monsters fairly fast
Personally I not like bonners either - they kill way to slow on my taste
Meteororb - mainly suffer due to resistances problem for meteor/fireball everything that not cold immune die in blink of eye (for untwinked version)
I am not sure about druids - tried one winder - lvling at low lvls is extremely painfull, have 1 relatively high lvl wolf (79) - major problem is PI and IM curse lol in hell unless you are using reapers toll (remove PI)

Have to stay with the freezingly frigid icebox Blizzy sorc. The other fun characters come later once you get a little gear. Usually I let my finds dictate what character I make. After awhile you have a bunch of fun stuff.
Looking forward to the reset! Just didn't seem right that Tal's armor and ammy weren't worth a cup of coffee :howdy:
I might try the Pits a little more this time around for MF'in. Have yet to find anything worthwhile in there so I must be due right?

Ill probably go with Pure blizz aswell as first char, for straight mephing,
Just get 70% fcr, tele to meph, use moat trick hopefully get a good start on ladder! :)
I know for sher that it will definitally take longer than 1 1/2 blizz casts to take out meph, im thinking about 6-7

I'm gona make Blizz Sorc because she's so easy to get to nm for meph then party with some mates to hell.
The only way i see of teleporting to hell meph without dieing (HCL) is to have ES and Good Block, and getting items from Meph NM is a must (Sucide Branch, Viper,Nightsmoke)
After getting my blizz sorc sorted i'l porbably go for Fishymancer to get those hard to get items in The Cave and after completing all of this i'm gona go and make a PVP Bonemance :)
i never thought about doing NM meph to get gear to do like the rest of Hell. thats a very good idea. NM meph is really a wuss, and the whole area pretty much turns to goo without much effort on most builds.
good idea :)
i am going to make my secret sorc build ;)

The uber untwinked Telekinesorc?
heh heh...well...
maybe :)
....it's a secret...
that way I can lie about it if it fails ;)
