Hi i'm creating a ww barb. I hear some people say that just put enough str so that you can use your weapons then the rest in vit. Some people say get max block and then put pts into str and vit. I was thinking... if you put all your pts into vit you can live longer but with str you wouldn't be able to kill anything. So what should i do with my stat pts placement? please help!!
Put enough into str to use gear. Put the rest into vit if using a 2 handed weapon, or enough dex to reach 75% block if using a shield. You don't need str to kill anything, the extra damage it gives is only 1% per point.
IMO, just enough STR to use weapon is the best. You save points for VIT this way. If you are using a shield then DEFFINATELY get minimum for max block. The more chance you have of completely negating a hit the better. This means your life won't even be touched.
I'm not using a shield however as my ww barb has a 2 handed weapon. Just enough for eq and no more, your weapon's mods should be where most of your damage comes from. IE: an etherial breath of the dying weapon will have some serious damage and STR will still play a part in how much you'll do but the weapon itself will be the bulk.
what about dual wield/2 swords? Is that an option?
it is, you get an extra hit or two during ww but most people do either sword and shield or 2 handed weapon, 2 handed weapons hit more if you get one with longer range and they do more damage

it isnt 1% it adds it is one point to min and/or max.
if it was 1 % and u done 1000-2000 dmg every point in str would add 10 dmg

it is 1% of your weapon damage. a good 1 handed weapon will do about 250+ damage, a good 2 handed weapon will do 400+ average. adding 1% is to add 2.5 damage or 4 damage, which is worthless considering how much life you can get for 1 point of vitality. with maxed battle orders and +skills equipment and echoing weapons on switch, 1 point in vitality can be 8 or 10 hp, meaning you can add about 50 hp per level, which is a lot more useful than 15 or 20 damage.
Just verifying what acc turkey said, it IS 1% per point (1.1% for 2h maces), but as with all damage % mods, it only effects your weapon damage, not your overall.

is it not also 1.1% for the war hammer?
Aye, if you take diabloii.net by its word, then that would also apply to warhammers. Sorry about that.

I would say 1.1% for the LM not the warhammer. But that is just a guess.

my data files show the "StrBonus" field as 110 for war and battle hammer, as well as legendary mallet.
