Just Upgraded a perfect bonesnap (to ogremaul) and a near perfect Ribcracker (295ed to stalagmite). I also socketed both of em. I'm going to build a conc barb around em and was wondering what I should put in those sockets. I know, I know... bonesnap is way too slow, but its strictly PvM and it looks so farkin' sweet! I dunno if shael will speed it up enough to hit any BP's so here I am, looking for advice!

upgraded ribcracker is a great weapon and i am a big fan of it. it is a great conc weapon or fury wolf weapon. upgraded bonesnap...is pretty much inferior in every way, so im not sure why you awnt want to use it. it has the same range as ribcracker, and ridiculous strength reqs.

but anyhow, putting a shael and having 40% off-weapon IAS gets you to 12 frames with ribcracker stalagmite. this means 70% on-weapon (50% + 20%) and then perhaps IK gloves + belt/boots and a 15% jewel in your arreats (25% + 15%). if you dont get IK you are going to need 15% jewels in your hat and also armor to get to 12 frames...you need 40% off-weapon and so normal 20% gloves and a 15% jewel is only 35% (5% short).

for bonesnap, you can hit 13 frames with 55% off-weapon IAS and a shael. bonesnap has no speed mod, so the shael adds 20%. for 55% off-weapon, you need IK gloves + boots/belt and then two 15% ias jewels (25% + 15% + 15% = 55%). this gets you exactly to 13 frames, 1 frame slower than ribcracker and an extra socket used for the extra 15% jewel.

once again i know you are not looking for comments on the weapons but i must express my dismay that you would want to use bonesnap when ribcracker is a much better weapon in all the same categories. it has 10% more crushing blow, higher damage (from the 30-65 flat bonus), fast hit recov, defense bonus, dex bonus, and it even has crazy high durability. the only thing bonesnap has is some resists and extra undead damage. you would also lose at least 1000 life in order to get your strength high enough to use bonesnap, whereas ribcracker requires like 60 or 70 strength.

plus ribcracker would let you make a hybrid WW and conc barb because with a shael it is fast enough to hit the [-60] WW breakpoint. 50% crushing blow makes up for the fact that the staff is only range 2. it is an outstanding WW weapon.

so basically i recommend not wasting the points in strength to use the bonesnap. i think youd rather have the vitality. but thats just me.

thanks a bunch AT for the response. I plan on using the ribcracker almost all the time. I upped the bonesnap mostly for the 'ooh... ahhh' factor, and because it was my favorite weapon of pre expansion D2. I'll be keeping it on the switch, but thats about it. And honestly, what's wilder than a staff wielding barbarian in a public game? Anyhow, being the poor SOB that I am I can't afford to perfectly allocate my Stat points so I am going to end up having to drop a few more into strength than would be altogether prudent. I plan on wearing a Lionheart Superior Sacred Armor, Viel of steel, Angelic ammy and Rings, Silkweave, dracs grasp (or Ik gloves), and Silkweaves (or Ik Boots). I hope that setup isn't completely screwed up.
