WW barb help

Ok Im a little tired of the common ww builds that use swords or ik maul.

I want to make a polearm or spear ww barb :idea:
My question is what weapon to go with, spear or polearm? I personally like the awsome look of the huge *** spears but they tend to be a little slow.

Any way, I need help on what specific weapon to use. Please make me aware of uniques and rune words and cruels that would be good to use. And share any experiences you've had with a spear or polearm ww barb. :yep:

Out of the list of runewords there are only a few that will hit the last ww breakpoint with any of the spears/polearms.

1. BoTD, 6soc obvious choice, this can be made in a ghost spear/great poleaxe/giant thresher and still hit the last ww breakpoint

2. Only one weapon will have enough base weapon speed for the other runewords on the list: Mancatcher. The runewords that you can use with this are Doom, Beast, cta, all 5soc, and Fury, 3soc. Wind (newest runeword) has enough ias but sucks for stats.

That isn't quite true because the Beast runeword only works in 5 Socket Axes/Scepters/Hammers so the Mancatcher cannot be used here.

Do you recommend the ghost spear for speed or a war pike for extra damage? Im leaning towards speed.

Should i get an arreats + lionheart armor
or a Gaze + shaft
or Gaze + lionheart or what?

Good call dogbert, I seem to miss details like that every now and again.

ktulu, people prefer the ghost spear over the war pike, because that last ww breakpoint does matter that much.

You can never go wrong with arreats, unless it's a specialty build. Gaze is nice, but the leech just isn't that important and the damage reduction is gonna be pretty much overkill if you go with verdungo's/string of ears and dr armor too.

Which brings me to armor, I'd personally rather use a leviathan over shaft for dr if you can. If you can't, I'd use lionheart.
