anyone every tried one?
i was toying around with my zon, and thought, hey, wonder if i slapped my WF on a barb....

im thinking for skills:
20 leap, get you out of places, and the knockback.
20 battle cry lots of -defense, making them easier to hit, as AR will be lacking
20 Bo and shout

and then some into grim totem.

i dont know if this is a viable build, but im building one now on sp :)

I think it sounds like a useless build. An amazon is a much stronger archer and has the skills benefitting ranged combat.

Leapattack is much better than Leap.
20 Battle cry is also a waste of skill points.

If you wanna do ranged combat, javelins or throwing axes are for you.

I see no point doing this unless you are bored as hell

I am not trying to say no to this ideal. But barbs kind of want to beat things down with a big something a big axe, big swords, big spears, big polearms, big muals, big staffs (if you want to look smart), and some times we just want to throw some thing as some one just because we can. The barb is the meaning of testastrone. Lets keep it that way plz. So no more girly bows maybe a crossbow because it looks like a shotgun but thats it.

Remaber bow=girly and that is a bad thing why because we are not girly.

One day pumafang, I hope to aquire as much logic, and profound insight as you displayed right there.

Squally; Your skills sound good to me, a cool bow would be Widowmaker, with it's +3-5 guided arrow, and the fact it fires level 11 magic arrows. Increased speed would be a good barbarian skill to consider if you have many spare skill points, being able to run fast is a life saver for archers.

sorry to say this, but you guys really dont know what your talking about...there has been a coulpe bow barb turnaments here in the SPF and they are extremely good...after a fashion...

your skills look very good man, and never understimate the power of howel and taunt too! that grim ward WILL be a lifesaver for you also, which you already said you will get :D

also, for AR sink points into zerk or something and use it as your attack. it wont give you the dmg boost, or cost mana, but it does give you the AR boost. this is much like the "famed" poison dagger "bug"

teaan probably has a good idea in that widow maker too...i never thought of that bow actually ^_^

hehe, in response to why, i just wanted to do something different, cant play the same chars over and over again now can we? ;)

i didnt know i could get teh AR bonus from the attacks, ill have to try that out...

yeah, grim ward helps more than i thought it would, hehe.
*edit*
about increased speed, i have 1 in tehre now, im going to wait until i have my other skills kind of settled before i pump it, but i always dump spare barb points there, hehe

tell that to all the rangers and hunters

Leap Attack won't shoot arrows or knockback
Battle Cry or War Cry either one would be pretty much required (or both)

not leap attack, just leap, it knocks people back from where you land, and the radius of it can get big ;)

maybe he'll have a hard time in hell but it's an interesting build to try.. why do people make themed builds if they suck so much?

An amazon is a much stronger archer and has the skills benefitting ranged combat.
no ****

Leapattack is much better than Leap.
no knockback with leapattack

20 Battle cry is also a waste of skill points.
if i remember correctly battle cry has a very small radius. maybe its constriciting for a ranged character.. any other suggestions?

bows are in no way girly (legolas!) they do however, require a little bit of dexterity or coordination, which is why barbs may look awkward with bows :) .

Legleos was more like ya girly looking men can beat some one up too. If you really wanted to prove that manly men could use a bow then you have to look at Aragon. But he was more of a ranger type any ways. Wait a sec he was a ranger so nanananaa.

barbs do have one advantage though...they don't have to cut a breast off

Actually, What about rangers? They're pallys that use bows and they can be quite destructive, and they're not girly. Though I agree that barbs want to beat things down with big melee, let him try something new. If noone ever tried anything new there would be nothing but Pallys with Fanaticism and Zeal, nothing but WW Barbs, etc.

in real life good archers are big (guys) men cause it takes lots of str 2 use a bow
and i am not talking about those tiny bows at olimpics but about ones that can pierce an knights armor

no bows for weak girls !!!

BTW the knights were small so that the horses can carry them (and the armor)

AHH! It's "ideA," not "ideaL." An IDEA is something you have in your head; ideal is an adjective that describes something optimal.

O ya MHuser, the best of these mounted achers where most of the men from Gingus Khan's army. Also most Knights right arm where much larger then they're left hand side of they're body only because they where training with those heavy lances. Alot of them started training at a very young age.

O ya I am just joking so any one that feels a annoyed by what I typed well hell I am soo sorry..
Also look at some of the items we have to use. Now tell me that blizz didn't have some form of a 3rd grade humor for at least the nutsack sheild. Because it is well known that mancatchers where a weapon used to grap some one so that others could kill that person.

Like
nutsack sheild<--- A.K.A Scutum
mancatcher <--- need I say more

And if you have to go after my grammer to try to say some thing poor about me then have as much fun as you can. Because it is not saying much.

You may only need one point in Battle Cry. I would look for bows with the Pierce Mod. I think that if you are going to be a bow barb, then you shouldn't use the GA attack. It really takes the last of the fun and challenge out of the build.

As for appearance, who can forget the best barb archers ever, in film we have the "Rock" in Scorpion King, if you didn't see it, just watch any Zena warrior princess or Hercules, but he did use the Bow, and that's not what sucked the movie up, it wasn't the acting either, it just need a director and a script.

In history you have Oddessieus, Ulsseses(sp), who was the only man that could actually string his bow, much less fire it. Historically all those really big bows required a nasty strong guy to pull the string back.
