View Full Version : Imbue question PLZ HELP!
OK I'm going to imbue some eth crystal swords and hope for godly mods so I can upgrade to Phase Blades.
I remember WAY back in classic D2 When the best items were rare martels, executioner swords, lances, and ancient axes. People then believed that there were different chances of mods you got depending on what level you were when you used your imbue (I think people used it at level 26-29 but I can't remember). Now I have no idea whether this was even true, and if so if there is still a level range when imbuing weapons is best. If anyone knows please let me know what level I should use my imbues at for the best chance of cruel, quickness and fools mods.

What happened to the rares??? They are so bad that I don't even pickup 99% of em. I guess uniques are just that now. I have some 16 characters and because of the terrible rares that have been dropping for me, I have not used any imbues yet.
I usually waited till lvl 50 for first imbue, 75 for the second one but never made it as far as lvl 99 for my last which I think I should do this time... don't count on godly mods ever though at lvl 30... as nerfed as rares are now I doubt you'll find anything better than a ebotd weapon.
Back in the day, the belief was that you had the best chance of godly mods at ~level 30 and waiting longer to imbue actually hurt your chances of getting a godly weapon. Does anyone know if this is true?

I still play classic, and someone said that for 200% ED you need to be lvl 74 for that chance. I'd assume that you'd have to be much higher for the mods you mentioned.

Does anyone know if this is true? It's not believe or anything. In classic people made chars just to imbue exec's / gothic bows (no elite items back then). IIRC it was lvl 34 or 33 or so. at that level the best %ed mods were possible to spawn. And to make sure the chance of these mods could spawn , they did it at that level. A higher level char means more mods that are possible to spawn , thus less chance on a %ed mod on it.
It was something like a combo of the following mods that were possible to spawn.
King's(+121-150 to Attack Rating, Damage: +81-100%) and Merciless(+81-100% Damage)
ps.
You couldn't get any +skills with those imbues though , you had to be a higher lvl char + imbue for that.
my friends always imbued lances looking for -req mod, he got somewhere like 160%ed and -40% req on the same lance for his vitalancer

In classic (read before LoD came out) The lvls of those %ed mods were alot lower. That's why the lvl 33 or 34 was the best level to get those high dmg rare weapons.

Closest i have been in ladder 1.10 was a eth. elegant blade - got 164% ed. 9% LL, repair every 33 sec, 244 AR and some minor stats. I was lvl 95 and did the imbue in normal.
I've gotten a duel leach + bowazon skills gloves before from it. I typically try elite gloves in hopes of getting %IAs, CB, and duel IAS. Most people don't even do the quest anymore but I think it's worth it.
Side note on rares. I found a rare eth Etin Axe that does like 530 max damage. Nice but no self repair or IAS. :( Still cool though.
Thanks for the help, I guess I will just wait until high level to imbue my eth crystals.
