Hey all I was wondering where everyone likes to do thier runs. I usually start out with Shank (first boss in act 5) and the unique monster right over that same wp, then pindleskin, then meph. Was wondering if anyone else knew of unique monsters and or minor/major boss's quick and easy to get to, to add to my runs.

Right now I'm only strong enought for norm but soon... very soon, nm will feel my wrath.

Unless your looking for low level gear, I suggest just waiting until you can MF at least in nm, since normal drops some really bad stuff for high leveled characters. Best spots in nm would be andy and meph. In hell you would probably be sticking to just doing the pit level in tameo highland unless you have good items and can take on meph, baal or maggot lair/worldstone runs. Countess is also a good place to look for runes if you need them.

I agree with the sentiment that you shouldn't really MF that much in normal unless you are playing untwinked and are going to play through the whole game. Even if you are playing untwinked, the main concern is getting as much exp as you can so that you can level quickly. If you can get experience and MF in the same run (Baal runs perhaps), then more power to you. Otherwise, worry about leveling first.

As far as upper level MF goes, I've always preferred Meph but he's unleechable in hell now, so I'll probably be hitting Pindle, Elricht, Shank, Snapchip and general Icy Cellar runs as they give pretty good experience and high treasure class monsters. Baal runs have always been a favorite too, but you'll need a well build barb to do them quickly and with success.

no something everyone seem to over look is low level gear. Everyone always levels up to get that godly stuff. I'm working with a few friends on a clan for newbs just starting out. Puting together a items bank and such so that it's easier to get to those higher levels and do some true MFing, but you are right normal isn't the place to do that true MFing I was only asking areas... not nessicarily the dif level.

thanks though for your suggestions I'm trying to put together a good system :)

Pindle, Elricht, Shank, Snapchip and general Icy Cellar runs.

Ok so there is no confusion, where is Elricht, Snapchip and Icy Cellar? I'm not familiar with thier names. Though I'm sure if you pointed me in the right direction I'll have no problem finding them.

If youre looking for uniques and rares eldrich and pindle is the way to go. If you are looking for godly socketables I find the pit much better. For PGems and crafting runes I do cows which is also the most fun for me.

Eldrich, the pit... where are these places? Ppl seem to just assume that everyone is as knowledgeable as them. I'm not a newb but I also haven't played in about 2 years and I don't remember the abrev. names and places that are the lingo anymore.

Cows are easy enough for gems and runes, I get those to drop like it's water... runes also drop well in the Valley of Kings?name (act 2).

If you go to frigid highlands wp in act 5, go up and the first unique you run into is eldritch. Go down and you hit shenk. I dunno about snapchip, but icy cellar I believe is in Ancient's Way. The pit is in the tamoe highlands, go to outer cloister and go down out of the monastery and follow the path until you find a cave. One way is to the black marsh, the other is to the cave.

The places that can drop all runes and all items (from the boss packs which are lvl 88) are lvl 85 areas. The Pit, Ancient Tunnels in Lost City act 2, River of Flame, Chaos Sanctuary, Worldstone Keep are all lvl 85 areas. Baal and Diablo in hell are the best bosses to run for high lvl items to drop, Meph can't drop of the really high lvl stuff, but he can drop a lot of good uniques still.

Just do a search on area levels on the forums and I'm sure you'll find a lot of stuff to help you out.

"Pindle, Elricht, Shank, Snapchip and general Icy Cellar runs."

Pindleskin - Act5, Anya quest must be solved before red portal shows up.
Eldrich the rectifier - Act5, Frigid highlands just make your way a bit north.
Shenk the overseer - Also Frigid highlands but venture south.
Snapchip the shatter - Ancients way and the Ice cavern i think.

Any monster in act5 is capable of dropping great so this discussion is rather moot. Ofcourse actbosses always drop best.

Oh, The pit can be reached in tamoe highlands i think.

The Icy Cellar is indeed under the Ancient's Way in Act V. Snapchip Shatter is in the Icy Cellar and he is a super unique and therefore always drops two magical items (or runes, gems, etc). Eldricht is the first monster you see if you go up from the Frigid Highlands waypoint in Act 5.

Baal is probably the best boss to run for items because of how difficult it is to get through the Chaos Sanctuary to Diablo. Meph used to be the best because even though he couldn't drop all items, it was very easy to get to him and kill him. My Frenzy Barb had it down to less than a minute back in 1.09. But now he's unleechable and while still good, not as good as before.

Now because boss packs and general monsters drop from higher treasure classes, it is good to have a character with high magic find BEFORE weapon switch (which is what Frenzy barbs did with dual Ali Babas before) and just run through entire packs of monsters. For that, I'd recommend the Ancients Way/Icy Cellar runs, as well as Glacial Trail because of the unique monster Bonesaw and the treasure chest. Lots of high TC monsters that give good experience.

Hope that helps.

I allways do Council in act 3 (mostly because they drop gems and charms very often, but allso many rares and "Find item" is great with the council). Then I do Eldricht, Shrenk and Pindleskin. All this is very fast. I have a godly equiped barb with a 400% BOTD Great Poleaxe and about 350% MF. This is mostly for rares, gems, charms, etc. At last i do Baal for uniques - he has a really good drop - if i play for 3-4 hours I would most likely find 2-8 Elite Uniques (well off course that include worthless like Hellslayer, Messer, Eaglehorn, etc.) I allways scan worldstone for champs and bosses and kill them to. From the monsters before Baal i have found +15% ED 6s Hydra bow, Eth. vortex shield +45 res, Eth. great poleaxe, eth. CB 5 socket, many berserker axes. And Achmed has been kind to drop 2 Deaths Phathom 15% and 23%. So this is what works best for me. It all takes about 10-15 minuttes without maphack off course.

I never thought about doing Councel... and thats one of those guys that are just beyond a wp too. THX! new monsters added to my runs. ;)

The great thing about mfing with a barb is they can survive almost everywhere. The bad part about mfing with a barb is anywhere with IM. I mf all over the place so long as there is no IM. I use enigma and tombreaver and have max resist in hell. Lots of countess runs for runes to upgrade, lots of super uniques, the pits sometimes, meph, I've found some decent stuff from the council but most of my best drops came from regular monsters while doing pvm.

the funny thing is I've found all my unique rings from chests/barrels and what not... no monster has ever dropped a unique ring for me yet... go figure

I'd like to add on to this with "the bad part about mfing with a barb is that they're slower at killing than many other classes." A Hammerdin or a Meteorb Sorc can run through groups of monsters faster than most MF Barbs. A Barb will almost never die while you're MFing, but it generally will take longer unless you're doing purely super-unique or boss monster runs, which don't depend on mass killing speed.

that's partially true. A barb can also skip all the peeons and minions and head right for the bosses and uniques. Not always the case as some peons can pack a wholop but for the most part I've found I can just tread through them, ww every so often to leech up my life again or hit a purple pot.

Still... by far the fastest MFers have got to be some builds of pally's and Zons. The monsters drop before them like the parting of the sea... it's a sight to see, trust me if you haven't, you will.
