Someone has tried it?
My last frozen orb firewall sorc with tr set work very well and now i was thinking about a frozenorb fireball sorc.
What i m asking is:
a 5k damage fireball will work better then a 8k firewall?
Pro of fireball is
no casting delay (fcr will work, so i can 2 fireball during FO dealy)
fireball hit flying monster over river like witch (not a big pro but still a pro)
Contro are:
more mana needed
18 more skill points needed

What you're asking is if MeteOrb works. As probably half the people here can tell you, yes, it does.
I m not gonna spend 1 point in meteor... So i think is not a meteorb sorc...

My main attack would be FO with full sinerg...
Fireball as backup. I will max fireball, then firebolt and eventually max firemastery over 90... Only 1 point in cold mastery, because with +12 it shall get to 13, 1 cold facet another 5% and then i only need 2-3 skiller to be over 100% lower res.
This build will have minimum prereq skill points. And damage going up even after 90lvl (last sorc FO/firewall had max dam around 92 lvl).

If you're going to put more than 6 points in Fire Mastery, you're better of spending them on Meteor. Fire Mastery gives 7% per point to Fireball, Meteor gives 14%. If you have 7 or more points to spend, 3 in Meteor, 3*1 in pre's and 1 in Fire Mastery is better than 7 into Fire Mastery, since your Fireball will do the same amount of damage and you'll have an additional skill and any points beyond those 7 have double the bonus to Fireball than Fire Mastery does.
Max synergized FO, 1 frozen armor, 1 CM, 1 Warmth, 1 SF, 1 TK, 1 Tele is a total of 50 points meaning 60 points for Fireball and synergies at lvl 99. Fireball 20, Fire Bolt 20 leaves 20 points. 7 more spend puts you at level 86. Any level over 86 means 7% more Fireball damage is you go the Meteor route for synergy as compared to Fire Mastery. Total difference at lvl 99 is +91% Fireball damage in favor of Meteor synergy. Fire Mastery is the last thing to max if max Fireball damage is what you want.
Let's say he's spending 60 points total (FBolt, FBall, FMastery), with +10 fire skills, FBall damage is 4612-5080
Adding Meteor and the prereqs, he can get a damage up to 4592-5058.. fairly close, and still only using 60 points total. That's using a combination of
20 FBall, 20 Meteor, 9 FBolt, 8 FMastery, 3 prereqs = 60
or
20 FBall, 20 FBolt, 9 Meteor, 8 FMastery, 3 prereqs = 60
If you're willing to take the damage down slightly (you'd lose 20-22 damage), you'll have a meteor that does 10,242-10,718 in your arsenal, and you'll still use the same # of points. I seriously doubt you'd be using FBolt ever, once you'd gotten Fireball.

Hmm, yeah...looks like it. Weird, I've always thought that synergy and mastery damage is additive, it appears this is not the case (meaning my initial reasoning doesn't hold). Looks like max damage is a function of total points available for investment and +skills. Makes finding the optimum alot harder...oh well.
Mastery works after synergies are added, which is why +skills are so important for sorceresses, since the masteries are affected by them.
Synergies always multiply by the base damage of the spell, Mastery multiplies by the total damage AFTER that.

If i use tr+lidless+2soj+anni i have +10 all +2 firemast (no fireskillers,only coldskiller) the best setups are:
3firebolt 14mastery
meteor= 11010 - 11521 max meteor
fireball = 4691 - 5167
9 firebolt 8 mastery
meteor = 10818 - 11321
fireball = 4850 - 5343 max fireball
I will take the fireball route.
Anyway i think that for each fireskiller would be right to increase firebolt 1 and decrease mastery 1.
With firefacet the best setup shall be more difficult to find.

Hmmm...IMO it should be like this:
MAX orb, MAX cold mastery
MAX fireball
12 to Fire Mastery
12 to Fire bolt
without any+to skills your firebolt will be 1600-1800 dmg...and with+ to skills it'll reach 2.5k or so which is great for solo MF'ing.
