So after reading some of the guides. Everybody seems to be in unison on saying the Meteor and Orb sorc is one of the best if not the best and great to use for all situations. Right?
WHich makes me wonder. If Orb for the fact that it slows down monsters. You can get Mercenaries for that right?
SO is Orb just as good or better than the best lightning option (nova, or chain lightning/lightning) because if having Meteor and one of the lightnings (assuming that one of the lightnings is better than Orb (not sure if it is) then wouldnt a lightning/Meteor/Fireball sorc with a cold aura merc be a good if not better option.
Considering play D2 again and was just trying to find the best possible sorc.
Thanks
It does sound as though the FO/Meteor/Fireball is a good idea. Chill the enemies while dropping a hellacious meteor from the sky as they are getting pounded by fireballs.

Best is a very controvesial subject. Everyone wants to say that their build is the best, but it really just depends on what you like. Some people will say that an Energy Shield/whatever sorc is the best, because it is hard pressed to die. Some will say a Meteorb Sorc is the best because it has both mass fire and mass cold dmg. Some will say chain-light, although there are LI monsters in many hell areas, can be controlled the best, do great dmg, and mf pindle, countess, and most other monsters without any problem. Best is really in the eye of the beholder. What do you like?

I dont think I will like the energy shield sorc.
I dont really like lightning (have to have great stuff to be good) plus Meteor/orb is better IMO.
I think I would really like the Orb/Meteor/Fireball sorc. Thoughts about them???
Well, almost regardless of the build you choose, there are plenty of Hell areas and situations that are frustrating, slow or tedious. The more you specialize, the more limited is the number of places where you can just have fun. On the flipside, the more versatile you make your character, the less "raw killing power" your character has. It's a trade-off, really.
A lot depends on your preferences and how you like to play. I think it's possible to make many builds "work", but they won't work equally well for everything, so it may be best to just focus on a build that uses spells that you enjoy. If the Meteor delay annoys you, it doesn't matter how powerful it is, you'll probably still not get a real kick out of it. FO and Nova still work, but are more item dependent. Then again, finding the gear is half the fun, in my opinion, and beating Hell isn't really a race unless you're running for a ladder position. A lot of the necessary gear can be found in late nightmare or early hell.
My current pet project is a Blaze sorceress, but I don't recommend this just yet and don't know how well she'll work in Hell. Too early to say and I lack some of the gear (it's a SP project since Blaze works much better without desync and lag). Still, I'm having a lot more fun with her than with my various other characters that can handle Hell well (the best solo Hell character that I've played with is a zookeeper).
Anyway, if you're new to sorceresses in 1.10, going with the Meteor/Orb build is probably the best approach. You could switch FO for CL and use a HF merc, but untwinked, the Defiance mercs tend to make better tanks. When I choose FO, it's not usually for its slowing effect, but for the easy use and flexibility. FO works in many situations, whereas CL is not particularly useful against individual foes. I also like to have a way to shatter Fallen and the like. It's also a good boss killer (minus Duriel). I just wouldn't want to try and kill Diablo in Hell with Meteor and CL. :)
Just some thoughts and probably not what you expected. I don't really think so much in terms of "what is best", but "what is the most fun". :)

That is actually exactly what the Meteorb build is about. You will have FB, Meteor and FO, spamming FB and planting Meteor and FO inbetween. As you say it sounds awesome and so it one fo the favorite and easy to play builds.
Some dont like the delay of Meteor so they migth choose a different route. The most popular builds you will find in the "Sorceress Guide Library" thread posted at the top of this forum.
As to say which is best, i dotn think there is a best build. Some are good for allaround pruposes, like MFing and general killing. Those are the dual-tree builds. Some are specialized for Mfing only, like pure Orb or pure Blizzard build. There is big variety to choose from, so you will have to find the build for you that suits you best. This you will find out by reading the guides.
For general starters i would recommend either the Meteorb build or CL/Fo Build since those are both versatile and can be used for any task at hand. This does not mean though that playing them will be a walk in the park. Careful planning and learning to play those builds are a big part. But that goes for any build here!
I've got a meterob and a blizz sorc.. blizz sorc is 3 piece tals and mf gear = 600 mf, meterob has godly gear, maxed resists, and 450 mf, or 580 with skullders and goldie instead of CoH and arach... the blizz babe can really only mf meph and pindle, while the meterob can rush hell and mf anywhere, from pits to countess runs to solo baal and big D.. D is the hardest, but can be accomplished with patience...
