Resistances for Sorcs?

Ok, so I am reading through mos equipment guides, and I just wonder how sorcs generally get good resistances. Using the most popular gear, I don't see too many...

Shako - none
Amulet - up to 30 if you're lucky (Mara)
Occy - 20
Enigma - none, Skin of VM - about 30
Chance/Frost - none
Goldwrap - none
Wartravs - none

So, it looks to me like most sorcs barely scrape by the 0 mark in Hell mode.

Other than charms, (and Anya obviously) what do you do?

Wizardspike, p.diamonding shield, um'ing armor/helm, anihilus small charm. Or just live without maxed resists, no problem anyway.

Occulus
Rhyme RW Shield
Shako with a Topaz (although, I COULD compromise MF for resistances)
I wish I was rich...

Eh...I plan on getting a Rhyme shield for my Ali Baba weapon switch. Don't bother using Rhyme for your main shield....25% MF vs. +48 resist all is a very easy choice. +48 resist all is found in Ancient's Pledge, or put 2 P. Diamonds in a Moser's Blessed Circle: 57% chance to block (I think) and +63 resist all. A whole lot better than 25% MF.

Shield, rings, boots and belts can give good resist

Gold wrap and War trav isn't really worth it since it gives very little MF compare to your total MF (roughly 300-400) so the additional MF from those items are small in comparison. Higher resist/life/mana is better IMO.

BTW tal's armor gives good MF AND resist too.

Enigma is kind of wasted on a sorc. For a sorc I'd go with Chains of Honor...
I like throwing Ums/pdiamonds/res-all-jewels in all of my gear. ;)

Anyway, I have three sorcs equipped right now, two of which in mf-gear, one in questing gear. I have a resists-fetish, so my resists are usually maxed out - if not at the beginning of Hell, then at least after the last Anya-quest.

1) Tal's set (ptopazes in helm and armour; res-all jewel in orb)
Lidless (Um)
SoJ, BK
Magefist
WarTrav
7x lit-skillers
7x mf scs, three of which with res-mods (fire, cold, poison).
All resists maxed other than poison

2) Skin (Um)
Shako (res-all jewel)
Lidless (Um)/Eschuta's (res-all jewel) - Chromatic Ire (res-all jewel)
Mara's
2xSoJ
Arachnid
Magefist
Silkweaves
15%gc, 4% gc; 6 skillers
(maxed res)

3) Shako (ptopaz)
Skullder's (ptopaz)
Wizspike (res-all-jewel)
Sanctuary (only 53% unfortunately)
Arachnid
Chanceguards
WarTrav
Angel's ammy of Luck
mf-rings
3%sc
(maxed res)

A good way to get resists is also Moser's Blessed Circle with 2 pdiamonds.

Charms are a big part of it, especially for PR and to a lesser extent FR. Tal Rasha's Armor/Ammy, Occy, Stormshield (with a -15reqs/resists jewel) are pretty much it for the resists from worn gear. I don't devote any sockets to resists either aside from the Stormshield, make up for the rest in charms. For the most part I usually have Fire around 10ish away from the cap, Poison 20ish, the rest capped by a good margin.

+75 from wizspike brings you to 5
15res jewel in shako brings you to 20
35 on vipermagi brings you to 55
Um'ed SS should bring you the rest of the way.

There's jst so many choices to get maxed resistances.

Favorite one's are
Occy(res jewel/um)
Vipermagi(Um)
Lidless(Pdiamond)/Visceratuant upg. (Pdiamond)
Mara's Kaleidoskop.
+3 Skilltree amulet with resists
Shako(Um)
Complete Tal's set
Annihilius charm.
Gambled rare boots with dual resists/faster run and MF
Rare Rings with FCR and resists
The obvious one's like Wizard Spike (which is rather cheap to get)


Reaching maximum resists for a Sorceress is really not such a big deal *ggg*

i easily get maxed (or almost) resists and 400 mf using full tal, lidless, wartravs and chanceguards.
Tal helm soc with p topaz
tal armor soc with p topaz
tal wep soc with cold facet
tal ammy
ring1: carrion wind for psn res
ring2: ravenfrost
chanceguards
lidless soc with p diamond

this gives me 61/61/75/75 and does me fine. overall with charms i have 400 mf and 525ish on switch.

Full tr+2soj+wartraveler+chance+um lidless+annihilus give max res, around 400mf, +20% cold damage (1facet), -15% fire res, a ton of life mana, +10 all skills, another +2 masteries, good defense, 50% faster cast...
Totally kickass for cold fire sorc.

So you can only UM the Skin of Vipermagi.
Try getting hold of a perfect Vipermagi. So you will get
+1 Skills
+30% FCR
+50 allress (!!!!!!)
