I have always been under the impression that the sigon set wasn't worth anything, and its a waste of your time. is this true? do u really want to use the sigon set for all of your starting characters?

thx for the help

I think that with the exception of the Sorceress and Necromancer, that the Sigons gloves + 1 other piece of equipment (possibly the shield) Is the first big break you'll get in the game.

The entire sigons set isn't all that, personally I think you'd be better off doing sigons gloves + shield (or belt/boots) and the angelic armor, amulet, ring.

I myself really like the full bonus: +24 to max fire dmg is like  for a very low lv char. The shield+gloves+either boots or belt are a must for any low lvl char, and ofcourse its very easy if you can equip your char with one easy to find set+a steel weapon and cathans ring+amu (cathan ring+amu = getting +10 str for easily equiping sigons and ll together with ar and a bit fhr). It's hard to find better stuff for such low lvl chars.

Well its not uber or anything, but it is a good set for starting characters. So much so that most of my melee characters do noticeably better when they are able to use the set. And since my starting sorcs are usually melee until reaching higher levels, they benefit well from the set bonuses.

well i like the sigon set very muchy, i equip all my new chars whit it (except the sorc ). it has some downsides though, for realy new chars

-item's can only be equiped from lvl 6 onwards
-big strg requirements
-need a good weapon so thelife leech shows any effect

i normaly end up putting the stats of the first 6 lvl s all on strg, gettin sigon and start pushing vitality after. u r still in act 1 anyway when u reach lvl 6 and all trou act 1 normal it s cheesy anyway, so u dont need life that urgent

i specialy like it whit 2 cathan rings which gives you 22% life leech

i haven t made a special beginner weapon so far but i think either khalims will or a hel-hel-hel-hel ( add more hel's if u find a weapon that fits:) ) battlehammer os something will do for most lvl 1 chars :)

In this game, people often seem to forget that new characters need good equipment too. Therefore, the elite uniques and runewords are immensely popular, while lower level equipment is generally tossed away as junk.

Sigon's set is definately not junk, unless you would still be using it on a level 60 character.

Well, you could always use sigons + angelic ammy, ring, weapon to get the +1 skill on the amulet. The weapon isn't that bad, it's low damage, but it's very fast. My rabies wolf still uses it in Act 4.

Sigon's set is definately not junk, unless you would still be using it on a level 60 character.

I donīt think it is junk for the endgame either, if you play untwinked. My 1.09 Swordmistress used the helm/gloves combo during the entire second half of her career. A juciy AR bonus (that got multiplied by a high level Penetrate), 10% life steal and 30% IAS was clearly the best solution for those two item slots.

However, I do think that you get the most out of the first 2-3 pieces and that other items will generally be better after that. Plus, itīs very unlikely that a character will find all six pieces if you play like I do (untwinked, no repeating of areas/bosses). My personal best is 5 different pieces for one character.

My favorite setup:

All:

Sigon's gloves, belt, boots = 30% IAS, 20% FR/W, 50% MF, +10 str on gloves means you can put the boots on sooner, a few other decent mods.

Angelic ammy, ring = +95 life, +1 skills, replenish life.

Cathan's ring = 6% life leech

Barb:
Berserker's axes, helm, armor = +1 skills, 10% mana leech. You can double swing all day long and monsters fall like crazy.

Others:
Sigon's shield, armor, helm (full Sigon's), Khalim's Will = +1 skills, some other decent mods for Sigon's, Khalim's Will is uber godly.

well, i just started a paladin, and im using the sigon set (got the whole thing for free from one of my friends) and its pretty good. after i level up a bit, and once i graduate from the sigon set, should i stash it on a mule for my next character? it seems like almost all starting characters can use it, and it doesnt lean toward specific stats for just one character, so i guess thats why everyone seems to agree that its worth it.

I love Cathans Rings as well. Most of my non-caster chars have 2 of those + some other piece of the set. This gives 20 to strenght and 12 life leech. This combinet with Sigons Gloves and shield or whatever gives:

22% life leech.
+20% IAS.
+20 Strenght.

That's sick on any melee char.
