I currently have a blizzard sorc, she is my highest level character and the one whom i use for mf'ing. I dislike having only one element though, as it makes rushing through hell practically impossible. I'd like to build a CL / Orb sorc but I've heard that it requires a lot of high up gear to work well. I have some pretty decent gear on my blizzard sorc:

Shako
Tal Armor
Occlus/Wizspike
Visurant/Lidless Wall
War Travellers
Ravenfrost
Nagel
Tal Amulet
Verdungos
Magefist / Frosties

I don't have great charms, or any plus to skill charms. Would this setup be viable to rush people to/through hell? If not, what gear should I aim for to make it viable OR what build should I aim for, in order to rush?

that gear would be fine for a CL/FO sorc. there is better, but it will get you through hell if your careful. my CL/FO sorc uses a 1 skills helm, a 1 skills ammy, alibaba, lidless, rare rings, rare boots, some horrible armor, and frosties. she can clear out the pits. i got her through act one hell. i needed help for act 2 (just duriel) and i think she is in act 3 now.

Some small changes would make it alot easier but its viable:
Go with full tals set gives more life/fhr/damage
exchange the nagel ring for a nice mana ring you will need it!
personally i run max block with a stormshield takes alot of str though.

Meteorb build works great also, but same there use full tals!

very poor choice for CL/FO which your gear you wont scrach anything in hell that is CI
Any lighting based sorc is extremely expensive to gear up...
To start with you'll need griffin eye with lit facet as a helm
At least 5 lighting charms needed to make you lit attack worth while (better say you'll need at very least 8k damage per arch for CL - and its not comes very easy
With your gear you better go for meteororb clone

That gear should do ok. Just remember to identify and fill in your weaknesses where you can. It's a very good idea to get +lighting skill charms. Also, FCR is important up to 80%. After that, it's not necessary.

Resists, +skills, +life, +mana are very important however and you can never get enough of them.

When you build your CL/FO sorc, just keep in mind that it's a work-in-progress. Keep your eye out for items that can enhance your abilities. It's hard to balance equipment for a CL/FO sorc since so many things are important, especially if you want her to MF. Unfortunately, the best equipment that you can get is really expensive. But you can do very well with intermediate equipment. The following is a moderately expensive idea.

+3 Lighting circlet or/and +mf or/and +resists or/and +mana/life
+30 (at least) Vipermagi / Skullders (dangerously void of good stats other than mf and +1skill)
Occulus/Wizspike
Tals amulet / Mara's amulet / +lighting or/and +fcr or/and +mf amulet
Whistans Gaurd (max block) / Visceratuant or Lidless wall (non-block)
Ravenfrost or Nagels / +FCR and/or +resists magical ring
Tals belt / Arachnid's Mesh / Verdungos / Nightsmoke
Natalya's Boots / War Travelers / Aldur's Boots

I ran for the longest time with these items, along with a good inventory full of charms to fill in where my equipment didn't.

Good luck!
