View Full Version : Maxing Clay Golem: good or bad?

Well the skels only take 40 points and theres lots of builds out there.
I was thinking 15+ in CG and 15+ in CE.
Probably a point in Revive and of course a few points in SR.
Im just thinking skels for the pits and CG + Decreptify to help kill the bosses.
I found Trangs gloves and was thinking about 1 PD 1 PE and 20 PN but i can't see it doing much even with the 25% ED from trangs, i'd probably need LR but then it's a lot of messing about.
Anyway CG, thought?

Here's my 2 cents, if you got 20 RS and SM, there really is no need to max a golem, and if you want to go for poison, you need to max the synergies for it to be helpfull...
My poison summoner has maxed SM, RS, PD, PE and PN, he can truck along very nicely...
I have a necro with maxed CG though, it's my version of the Lord of Mages: maxed CG, GM, SR, RSM and SM...
rationale:
RSM + SM: without this I wouldn't be a Lord of Mages...
CG + GM: A very fast, very resilient tank, very needed for this build...
SR: Skeletal mages are slightly less sturdy than wet noodles, these resists help them out immensly and they don't hurt the Golem either...
my LoM isn't as fast en the poison summoner, but he can kill everything the game can throw at him...

Both builds assume a lot of curses are used, but with only 1 point specced, + skills take care of the rest...

Well, if you're gonna mainly use skellys, then you're probably gonna have some summon charms. Even without em, you should still have enough + skills on from equipment to have him to a decent level. Can always add points to him after trying him in runs & if you feel the need for more. I'd save em until you see if you really need em or not.

For your Curses...main 3 are: Amp...Decrep...and Dim Vision.

BA only needs 1 point...max Bone Wall instead and if your using Marrowalks(or plan on to) then zero in Bone Prison.

Gumby...Golem Mastery...and Summon Resists only needs 1 point into them(your +skills does the rest)

Don't waste the points to increase Gumby...those will be more useful going with Mages...or if you feel the need to max CE.

Also...if your not going to max PD and PE...then don't waste the points for PN. You won't do enough poison damage to be really effective that way.

I myself have maxxed Skeletons...Mastery...Mages. 1 point into all Curses up to Decrep and Dim Vision...Then 1 into Gumby...Mastery...and Summon Resists.

I'm going to put rest of my points into Revives...to cause further lag for the Anti-Necro's out there.

I thought Mages were a bit y'know, ****! I never liked them much when i had them in the beta.
It's strange cos in other char builds every point is really stretched but with a necro you just need 50 for RS/SM and 10 CE then after that your free to blow 45+ points in anything and thats my problem, i just dunno what to do. I just thought CG would be good for all that life and the high slow.

I think i'll probably go max CE and a few in Rivive, i can't see anything better worth doing.

Put 10 or more in dim vision. The best defensive skill for throwers. AT leats one in attract. Get one in revive, can be helpfull. If you can have access to top equipment (death web, bramble armor), you can put points into poison nova and synergies (you then need absolutely one in lower resist).
