Blizzard vs. Pure Orb

I know I am going to regret asking this, but I had the idea to just make a pure Orb sorc to MF hell Mephisto.

I have played sorcs in the past, and I am a big fan of how easily you can spam the Orb at bosses. Blizzard just isn't my thing.

However, I have read a lot of people saying that Blizzard is best for MF sorcs.

Woulnd't this FO build work?

20 CM (overkill, but worth it with low damage from orb)
Teleport, Shiver Armor, Static Field, Warmth, etc.

I know orb can be a great killer. Would this work? What do you think?

This is kinda a FAQ, but yes, pure orb kills meph fast.

I did this once, and dumped my points after orb, bolt, CM, prereqs and the standards (teleports, static) into warmth. I could tele all day to meph and never need a pot.

I got max orb with 3 cm and 2 ice bolt and it still kills meph pretty good after static, just about 15-30 seconds on average.

I kill Mephisto in less than 10 seconds or so (without Static), with mediocre gear and unmaxed (so far) synergies. Level 26 Blizzard/mastery, maxed Ice Blast and around 13 points into the other two. All this and he never gets close enough to hit me during a run, so I don't have to devote any equipment to resistances or anything. Meaning, of course, more MF. Unless you have a good melee mercenary, Blizzard will be pretty annoying against fast monsters (especially in Hell), and it's not always reliable, but you have the synergies to back you up. My Ice Blast does 1.5k and freezes for 19 seconds (in Normal), and my Spike is at around 650 at 9 seconds, so they're good for when Blizzard keeps missing. I HIGHLY recommend a pure Blizzard sorceress, although you might want to get used to potions without good gear and (many) points in energy and warmth.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I had quite a battle with myself going from level 24-30 with my sorc about whether I should just stick with Blizzard or not. I ended up going for the pure orb build. At level 43, I am completely tearing through everything in Normal and MFing like no other.

mfing normal isn't a good idea, very few good items drop there. i would lvl up and start mfing in nm.

Well, yeah, I know.

I just happened to get some decent drops while rushing some little guys - that's all.

I've made a MFer before - I know where to find the goodies. ;)

Orb best suit for semistatic or teleporting single target (Baal for example - you wont even hit him much with blizzard)
Blizzard best for area attack and moving single target (Mephisto for example - because of patherns of his movement you can hit him with more then 1 icecle per cast)
