View Full Version : Melee Enchantress - questions
Alright, i have everything worked out except where to put my extra points...
so far i have
20 warmth
20 enchant
20 fire mastery
1 shiver armor
1 teleport
all the prereq. leading up to the above skills
where should I put my extra points? I was thinking of putting like 10 into tele and 10 into shiver armor, but i want to know if i should get something else, like a cold or light spell to deal with FI.
also, does telekinesis do anything other than pick up gold and stuff and occasionally shove people away? so far it seems like a fun but useless spell.
using:
shako
+3 fire skills ammy
vipermagi
SOJ / dual leech
passion phase blade/ leaf staff with +3 enchant +3 FM (ethethethethshaelshael phase in stash for dueling)
lidless/splendor (ss in stash for dueling)
verdungos

Well I'd say forget the points in teleport and shiver armor and put them into telekinesis. People (such as myself) advocate telekinesis because its a synergy with energy shield. Without TK maxed, your energy shield will take 2 points of mana for every one point of life taken - inefficient right? If you max TK, only .75 points of mana will be taken for each point of life (I think this is right, its definetely >1) And yes TK does have a use of its own! Its very useful in helping out your merc with his job, if you are unable to kill a monster, but your merc can, just spam TK on the monster and your merc wont even get hurt.
Other skills you might want to consider are the 2 remaining masteries if you can get significant amounts of damage in cold and light. I've seen a couple of people using thunderstorm on this build, which seems like a pretty good choice as its basically a fire and forget kind of thing, so you don't even have to worry about it doing its job.
If you decide to go with the ES route, put your points into mana, not vit, as your mana will be taking the biggest beating, not your hp. If no ES, then you're definetely going to need a significant number of hp, so pump that when you can. Lastly, I can't recommend an SS enough on this build. You're going to be fighting melee, and lidless/splendor are both just about the worst melee shields around. You'll want to have max block on this build, and again, neither of your chosen shields should be used for this. Ok I'm almost done...I'd suggest getting rid of the dual leech ring, and getting a raven frost, the Cannot Be Frozen is essential if you don't have it someplace else, and the dexterity and AR bonuses are gravy. I say get rid of the dual leech because you'll be doing so little physical damage that it will essentially be useless. Phew long post . Hope this helps!
alright, the problem is that ive already started pumping vit. so i dunno if i can still switch to ES...
ill switch primary weap to SS and get a RF i guess
im lvl 64 now and i plan on getting to about lvl 90, i have like 12 more skill points from quests to go, so i have at least 30 more skill points.
maybe 10 tele 20 thunderstorm?
i was also thinking maybe 20 points in inferno just because it has the synergy of warmth and since thats already maxxed i would deal pretty decent damage, but i heard theres a bug or something that makes it deal crap damage so i dunno.

Personally, I have this setup:
Lots of Vit
Lots of Energy
Level 10 energy shield
Level 16 telekinesis
20 warmth, enchant, fire mastery
it would have made more sense if i had pumped more into energy, but thats okay, my sorc still fairs pretty damn well, she pretty much has just as much energy as vitality.
Wearing:
tiara with resists, kira's?
guardian angel
stormshield
passion phase blade
laying of hands
verdungo's belt
set amulet with resists and + skill, telling of beads?
raven
leech ring, probably don't need it though
some boots, nothin special, probably could be better.
I have a lot of focus on resists, and this gets me 90 all resists in hell, 50% dmg reduction in hell. My enchant is only lvl 27 with weapon switch, but, meh, i ain't rich. adds 1100 or so, so i deal around 5k dmg lvl 4 zeal. I also went for max blocking, which has proved pretty useful.
As far as other builds, I've got a friend with a pretty strong build, and with no points in ES, instead tossing all the points into one of the cold armors. This melee sorc is also a werebear type though, and is used strictly for dueling, although with over 15k dmg(lvl 47 enchant), he handles pvm pretty well.

the bug with inferno: the visual shows a nice wide flame, but in truth, the only dmg is right in the center of it, a very thin line. So, if the unit is moving, chances are you won't hit it.

Good shields to use would be either Stormshield or Sanctuary in a shield with decent blocking. Whitstan's Guard, upgraded Moser's, upgraded Viscerataunt or at worst Sigon's would work as well.
But I'd NEVER use Lidless for melee.
My melee-enchantress will have maxed LM - but then I intend to use Lightsaber, TG's vigour, Tal-ammy and tons of lit-dam charms.
Other skills to consider are certainly TS - though you probably won't have the points to max LM as well nor will you have lots of +skills, so the dam-output will probably be rather weak.
Then you might consider a few more points into SF. Lvl 16 SF gets you the whole screen.
SA would help your defense. Unless you upgrade Vipermagi (which I'd definitely recommand in any case!), the the def-bonus won't do much for you, though.
Why are you using the SoJ btw? You won't need the mana with this build. A BK or Ravenfrost would help you a lot more.
My melee-sorc will use:
upgraded Skin with Um
Lightsaber (with Jewel of Fervor)
Stormshield with Um
rare tiara with +2 sorc-skills and some nice mods (will maybe socket with res-all-jewel)
TG's Vigour
Laying of Hands
Gorerider
Tal's ammy
Ravenfrost; not sure yet about second: BK or res-all/ll
tons of lit-dam-charms; res-charms; vita-charms
Stats:
Str: 135 (with +20 from TG's and at least +1 from charms, I can equip SS)
Dex: ~155 (enough to keep up max-block)
Vit: rest
Nrg: base (but I'm not using ES - other than for special situations like Ancients)
