Do all chars have a 75% chance to block or is it max at what the shield says?

For example, for druids, the max % block on a SS is 67% but when you look at your char stat screen, you can get block up to 75%... anyone know what the % block cap is? and do all chars have the same 75% cap or is it limited to what the shield is showing?

All characters can achieve up to 75% block. The shield block is just how much the shield will block with - which helps decide how much dex is need for max block. Increasing dex ups your block. It can not go past 75% however.

if the shield block is how much the shield will block with, why bother getting 75% block on a shield that's showing only 67% block?

The shield % is like a base to work from. However, as you lvl up, you have to add dex to keep that % up. Like it says 67%, but depending on the character's lvl and dex lvl it can change. It's just a base to work with.

this is hard to explain...

i know you have to put more dex in as you lvl up to get max block... what i was trying to ask was this - is there a point to put enough dex to get 75% block if the shield's max block is only 67% (i.e. ss on a druid)

another way to ask the question would be... if i use ss on a barb (ss block on barb is 69%) is it pointless to get 75% block since ss max on barb is only 69?

NO! getting 75% block is never pointless!

there's a formula that the bnet server uses to caclculate how much your char blocks, the number on the shield is just another plug-in for that formula, other plug-ins for it include your dex and char lvl, so just completely ignore what it says on the shield when figuring out what your blockign % is.

The real answer is in the screen when you press "a" and then hover your cursor over the "defense" button, as long as that says 75% chance to block then you're all set.
