New To Sorcs - HELP!

I am new to sorcs. I am gonna be a blizz sorc. PVM, im not wealthy....only char. Trying to get a char started to get wealthy.

1. How many points in energy?
2. Static Field??
3. How many points in Cold Mastery.
4. Where is best place to get items.

Hmm, energy really depends if yoru max block or energy shield.
1 into static is fine.
Get it maxed or -100 res is good.
For blizzard, Meph and Ancient tunnels are pretty good

if you're max block don't put any points into energy. your dex will be around 200, depending on what shield you end up choosing. i use mosers with two pd's for my blizz sorc, so at level 80 i need 210 dex for around 75% block. think of max block as 'free' damage reduction %, without having to sell your soul for an item with it.

1 point in static field. with + to skills it'll cover about the same radius that a battle cry (the barb skill which -defense) does, which is sufficient.

i like to max cold mastery. it gives MUCH better damage to boss monsters than the blizz synergies. seeing as you're going to be doing boss runs i'd definitely max it if i was you.

and best spots to MF? damn why did i even post, billy goat covered everything :P meph is a breeze for blizzard sorcs. lure him to the moat and sit just out of sight of the vampires/council, and just out of reach of meph, across the moat. there's a sweet spot to stand in that works 99% of the time, which you'll find. ancient tunnels, in act 2 lost city are also easy, no cold immunes of course. don't worry about getting 800% MF here, go for 200% MF and with the free spots have + skills items so you can smash everything in there within seconds and host up again (think quantity not quality when doing MF runs. 200%MF is FINE).

if you have no friends who can rush you to hell act iv for your 2 skill points (and more importantly access to meph and ancient tunnels), you might think about having firewall and a competent mercenary to take out the cold immunes on the way to hell act iv. this however is a lot harder and time consuming, and i'm sure there'd be someone willing to rush you to that point. plus, you'll have to sacrifice 40 odd points into firewall/mastery, which means in the long run you'll be doing meph and ancient tunnel runs a lot slower.. which is BAAAAAAAAAAD!

1. The points of energy is kinda needed for differnt builts
For Example Fire sorc you want alot of points into it but thats after u point ur points in Str and things for your wep, armor, ect.
2. Static field is another build time but i'd say anywhere from 1-5 points
3. Cold Mastery is another type thing but see if ur a cold sorc then put 5 into the skill.
4. The best place I get my items from is Hell Mephy.
