wth is so good about beserker axes??

and everyone else congrats him.

well i looked in the items database here and didn't see anything special about them. just a regular elite axe.
whats so good about them?

Most people you see that are happy about finding 6 socket Berserker Axes have found Ethereal ones. These can be made into high damage 1 handed BoTDs, and the base speed on one isn't bad either. So that's probably why.

Berzerker axes are much more versatile then alot of weapons out there. I think peopole botd zerkers cuz it has the highest 1 hand damage potental with speed mixed in. Phase blades cant be ethereal, which pretty much rules them out. Colossus blades also get 6 sockets but can only be wielded with 1 hand by a barbarin while a zerker can be wielded 1 hand by every char class.

Zerker Axes have high one handed damage, making them one of the ultimate Paladin Weapons.

From DOOM Zerker's to BOTD Zerker's, the zerker will offer you high one handed damage... and making good runewords from them (4/5/6 sockets) will gives you nice ED which = good damage :D

I also believe that white zerkers are tc 87, making them pretty rare and making the ethereals 1/10th rarer (correct that stat if its wrong but its something to that effect)

So..... finding a 4,5 socketed non eth and finding a eth 6 socket or eth nonsocketed is a rare event.

Lottery is struck when a 15% ED Superior ETH Zerker is found.

They are definately very rare, I searched for about 2~3 months to try and find one and no luck so I just gave up.

all you need is a eth bezerker axe and a socket quest. Boom, you have a eth six socket bezerker axe. I think the ilvl need to be higher that 41 for you to get all six sockets. They are talking about a normal or superior white named bezerker axe. You might find one, but the eth ones are the rare ones to find. You cannot make a runeword out of a unique item.

I don't know what kind of games you play in, but through my 2 years of playing this game, I've only found a zerker once. I don't even have hopes of finding an ethereal one in the future.

IM totally serious... in 1.09... cows games always had elite items lying around, 1 Zerker on avg in each game were just on the floor.. cuz noboyd knew about botd. But of course now.. i dunno if the chance to drop % has changed or just luck or ppl finding them and hoarding them.

Well, of coarse, the demand for them was not very high, as there were no BotD/Doom/Beast/Passion, but only Fury. I can understand how people wouldn't want to pick them up too much, and not many people knew about their very high damage and the fact that they're one-handed. They might've made Robo weapons with them, as well as Furies and the occasional Silence, but that's it.

I can honestly say, though, that either I've never seen one drop, or I wasn't looking for one or didn't know what it was, much like the rest of the population.

Beserker axes are not common really. In the pits I usually saw about 1 every 15~20 games if i was lucky and ethreal is 1/10th rarer than that i think so thats about 1 in 150~200 games. Even if it drops ethreal there is a chance it will drop with 1~5 sockets making it rarer still. They are a bummer to find but totally worth it if you can.

Simple answer: A CB looks a hell of a lot cooler on a barb, than a puny-looking little axe.

Plus CB gives the option of 2 hands which is extremely useful against things where blocking is irrelevant e.g. Necros, Casters etc. You want a powerful swing. This way you get a nice damage 1 hand weapon and a nice damage 2 hand weapon, all in the same weapon which is cheaper than getting 2 separate BoTD's.

Heh, I understand that it's a matter of opinion, but I completely abandon any char that looks stupid, if I can't make him look cool. Looks are wayy more important to me than the powerfulness of a character and whether he/she is able to survive.

Even though 2 hand does more damage vs casters whichout a shield your resist are gonna blow majorly thus making it 10x easier for them to kill you.. I always laugh when i see a 2h botd cb barb enter the game..

Useful fact of the day:

When you socket an ethereal item, it will always have the maximum number of sockets.

Ex. A 15% ED Ethereal Berserker Axe is an incredible find, as you can socket it, and then create an excellent BoTD.
