How to lvl my merc?

My sorc is lvl 86, unfortunately i waited till now to get my holy freeze merc. Holy freeze merc is only lvl 42 or so, so my question is, what is the best way to lvl him up to my lvl ASAP? and what is best low lvl stuff to put on him at this point?

I found that my merc lvl'd up very quickly in the pit in hell, but you may want to do some NM baal runs because he's such a low level at this point.

nm cow is very good i can get 2-3 lvls in a 1 player cow game.. imagine 9 player cow game...

Once ur merc is lvl 60+ you can get lvls from pits and hell pindle

Mercs, however, do not gain exp from monsters that was killed by other players. Even in a 8 player game he only shares the exp with you.

From Arreat Summit: "Mercenaries do not get experience from party member kills, but they do from your summoned monsters/characters."

With this in mind, you can skip the 8 player Baal run games, since it only gets harder to keep him alive, and he doesn't gain any extra experience for it.

Hell cows & hell pit do the trick nicely if you can teleport. He'll be level 75 before you know it and then he can hold his own.
