I've got this little hcl summoner about half way through the game (lvl50, A2 NM). I've maxed SM and have 1 point into everything else. He is a bit "twinked"+7 summon, +6 on the other two, so he is doing pretty well, in fact, too well. (boring) So I thought I might mix things up and go for an army of Mages and use LR as my primary curse. I like the area coverage of the curse, and it does wonders for my puny lvl7 Bspear. Am I going to get a rude awakening when I get to hell? And, are there sweet spots in terms of points that should put into LR?

Thanks

Oh yeah, HF merc

I maxed RS, SM, and mages and the mages always seem to die, but I still say that you go with the LoM build as it is alot of fun, 1 point into LR is enough. You might want to consider using skellys or revive as meat shields.

HF merc means you are going to have lots of trouble getting corpses. I'd still go for might merc for your other minions to beef them up. You won't need to slow down the monsters because you should have enough body shields from skellies and revives to keep them from overwealming you easily.

Although, if you aren't going to have skellies, hf probably would be your best bet. Count on them dieing a lot tho.

A minor note. LR does not affect magic spells, so the effect you are seeing on bone spear is (or should be) non-existant. Personally I'd have invested in poison skills to go with that lower resist as then lr would boost both your mages and you, but that's just me.

Also, one point is enough, assuming you have enough +skills to get you to like 8 or 10 I believe, because right around there you only get like 1% more every 2-3 or more levels. You could probably put a few more in, but definately don't max it.

Thanks for the help:) Yeah, that Bspear damage must have come from that "wishfull thinking" curse I was under :surprise: Spear was always my favorite attack, to bad you can't anything in Hell with it (at least in 1.09). Can it be synergized up enough to useable now? Bear in mind, I won't have the bug.

Then it is still a force to be reckoned with. Our own Soulesschild has made a good guide describing a Bonemancer build. And there are a few Bonemancer/Summoner hybrid guides out there.
