It's funny. I play a PvP bow assassin. As a result, the only thing keeping me alive is lots of speed and lots of dodging of attacks as I plink away with venom and open wounds with my widowmaker. Yet invariably, in public games, half of the people I duel call me a "noob runner" and demand I stand and fight (i.e. stand still so they can hit me). Last night I had a teleporting sorc (!!!!) call me a noob runner for not standing still. I have to chuckle every time. :scratch:

yeah its sad in pubs, i had a zon that had to run and there are always these enigma barbs/necros complaining that i would run, and after i killed them/or they killed me they complain of how much i ran, i then proceed to ask do u want me to stand there and get hit by every attack and die very fast. their response "of course noob, thats how u duel"

Adults can be just as stupid and whiney(or moreso since they have had more practice) as young people.

They just don't know how to catch runners with teleport. All you gotta do is namelock with tele and hold it(repeated teleporting) till they get tired of running and stop to shoot you. Then they die. Never try to hit them while they are running, you will just miss and end up eating arrows. The only tricky part is getting that first namelock without getting torn apart by arrows, but thats why you have minions, right?

Btw, congrats to Speederländer for winning with a rare build. Keep up the "noob running". I'm right there with ya, except I'm "noob teleporting".

lol i was dueling a hammerdin with my v/t pally.
i started off smiting him but he kept on running away. so I switched to using FoH, then he starts to complain that im running away to much and i should stand and fight. So we share some words and so i just go back to smiting.... then he does the normal spam hammers then run thing. and i tell him to stop running away since he didnt like the fact that i was running before. He insists that his running away is totally different from mine. so basically the new rule in dueling is you have to stay and fight(die) and your opponent is aloud to run away and do whatever. Im sorry if it seems a little unfair but thats the new rule :)

lol i duel alot with my barb, so i know all about dodging with WW. If you are in a fight or martial arts competition, do you simply stand still and exchange punches till someone falls? no, of course not that's dumb. Dodging is part of the technique. I am not talking about running away, just using WW in a smart manner. WWing in a zig zag is ALOT different from running away. don't let people tell you its BM to dodge a little bit, its not, and most barb duelers/WW assns don't consider a little dodging bad at all.

Some people actually do lag, but you can tell who is lagging and who isn't. If the teleporting wind druid(me) stands still for 5-10 seconds for no apperent reason while you smash him, don't assume he just likes standing there(oh, look a flower, I think I'll stop and look at it while that barb hits me). I still count it as a win for the other guy when I lag(my fault for living in the middle of nowhere), but it is VERY annoying to be unable to move while you Know the other guy is thrashing your paralyzed body.

I love it when fireball sorcs kill me while I lag. I can see everything move in fast-forward right after the lagspike, so I see about 15 fireballs hit me and then I finally die. Then immediatly after that comes the HAHA NOOB DRUID YOU SUCK I KILLED YOU EZ. Slightly annoying...but its ok, because 10 seconds later they die from 1 tele/tornado.

Easy way to tell lag or not. If the other guy stops and does not attack for 3+ seconds he is lagged. If he is continously attacking and running/teleporting then he is not lagging no matter what he says. I hate the people who are moving the entire time and then suddenly have "lag" when you kill them. If I see someone stop for no reason, I let them get unlagged before starting again. It proves nothing when you kill them while they can't move. Plus, its no fun when they can't fight back.

the most noob ppl r the ones who say charged strike is a ******** skill. while the usually have enigma as a barb necro or pally and just keep teleing away. then wen i catch them and kill them in 1 cs they say i am a noob cuz cs is ********. then i kill them with lite fury and they say its a noob skill too. any1 using enigma for the tele in duels is *** in my opinion. idc if it costs alot it give u a ****in +1 teleport makin any wind druid/bone necro good bcuz they dont have to worry about frw anymore. altho bone necros still rnt powerful(thanx to slow missles) its still *** to have the noob necro who teles everywhere spamming bs in the middle of ur duel with some1 else.

I know whatcha mean. I used to get the freeze lags to, then the fast forward to catch up. But since i got cable it doesnt happen nearly at all.

I was also refering mainly to the people that talk the talk, then clearly dont lag. You can tell when someone is lagging. But yea....I should have made my post alittle more understanding. going back and reading it, it does sound kinda......yea...... :clap:

my comp do lags... after a tele i can see my sor putting her hands down, the screen change then i can do another movement. Some times, when i walk into an area, everything freezes except that i can still walk here and there. After exiting the game, left a naked body.

i once was facing this sorc with my rabies/fireclaws druid
he thought he was the best yet he was sadly mistaken

normally sorcs tele and attack in even amounts this one wouldnt even let me get within a screen of him but the time he would stop the tele he was in cold plains

anyways after killing him numerous times, i had to town run once because i was pretty beat up
and what do i get?

an entire screen of "RUN DRUID!!!"

so i run out of town, i rabies him and instead of chasing after him i stand completely still and wait for him to realize that running to cold plains isnt gonna help cause im not even chasing him

he gets pissed of and tps back to town to heal
repeat 3 times, everytime he would tp as soon as rabies hit him

now to sum this story up, the last time i dueled him something interesting happened

i hit him with rabies and gave chase, he used a well to heal TWICE while i was chasing him, then seeing rabies was still on him, TPed back to town, healed, came back out and tried to duel me again

when i town ran i get another full screen of "HAHAHA NOOB TOWN RUNNING"

I think its funny when someone dies and then runs aorund naked attacking people. After awhile it gets annoying so someone kills him and then the naked char crys "NK!!!" and everyone then kills and nakes the guy for "naking" the other char. Haha....this game is funny.

Or the pallies that will use smite and then when someone else uses smite they complain and call them noob.

So i killed the zon at least 5 or 6 times without returning to town and while I was dueling the other 2 barbs too, I killed one of the barbs about 3 or 4 times without returning to town and the other barb would get so low in life but then drink out of the well (which I wasnt using) and he did this about 3 times or so....give or take. Finally after about 10 minutes of dueling these three I felt bad for them so I let them kill me. No joke. Just to see what they'd say. *sigh* They go: "NOOB barb got owned! he sucks! what a noob! we owned him!" hahah Morons.

Back a month or so ago in HC ladder my friend had a lvl 70 charger for PKing, hed always talk crap get someone to bring in their ubah lvl 80+ Pker or like tele necro sorc, and hed either kill them, or they would leave, or hed just throw on tons of absorb and it would never end. I remember We were lvling lvl 9 Duelers HC for fun, this guy died to like a quill rat and my friend laughed at him, so he brought his lvl 83 nigma P&B necro with really amazing Hardcore equip. So my friend got his lvl 70 Pally, im like o god his pally is so dead, I turn on loot for him. The guys talking smack like spamming the screen and we check all acts in town hes not there. My friend goes through ROF waypoint and the guys RIGHT THERE mid typing, funniest crap ive ever seen ( we were on LAN he was on a comp next to me ) so the necro i assume hit enter really fast cuz he typed a like half cut off sentence, hits W w/o enter on so hes not typing, switches to like a sigons shield and some white wand, doesnt have Bone armor on, and my friend 2 charges him dead. It was the funniest thing ive ever seen in my life. I wish to god he had loot on us, the guy was spamming hacker and everything. It was the best moment in D2.

His pally uses pretty good equip, his pally had a cruel of evisc eth war pike he used to charge with fant. Later that day his pally died.... to a Pker lol... ironic, but killing that necro was so worth it.

The necro had on, enigma, a +2 necro 20% FCR 11% resist all 11 dex circlet 2 sojs, 28% mara's, HOTO, SS, arachnids, and he said 8 P&B charms. My friend runs MH so he had his equip opened up when he first joined. Thats all pretty insane equip on HC.. Expecially back in that time period.

People don't get it. Sometimes running is'nt just away to be annoying... it's strategy. Forcing someone to chase you give you a hell of an advantage... you lower the ar, and can get some duelers to go change into some increased speed gear, forcing them to loose their higher defense gear. Dueling is'nt just about melee. It's about strategy. Some people just don't want to think. Usually, runners have a disadvantage as well... (low dfense/life). Keep in mind, they want to kill you as bad as you want to kill them. Some times it's good not to chase the runners... make them find another way to kill you.

It's not so much that you're running, it's just that your beating them. Anything that allows you to win is cheap. Cheap CTA, Cheap Enigma, Cheap Tele, Cheap Running, Cheap FoH, Cheap BoTD, Cheap Sorcs, etc etc. You know if you had lost they wouldn't be saying anything.
I know, because when I play with weaker chars (like my demon machine enchantress) I get annoyed with people teleing everywhere with BO, I don't complain though I just get my windy :)

I do laugh everytime a barb wants me to sit still and tank him though. 'don't run', oh, sorry, I'll just sit here, go ahead and whirl. Want me to take off my shield too?

lol I don't usually get the good people I get the idiots who just started playing and think that blood letter is a godly barb weapon because of it's boost to sword mastery or something. Decrep, bone prison, spam bs. BLAAAHHH, I need to make my own nec so I can stop using my friends, but his is just so fun. Nothings better then killing a 70+ barb with a 3 nec, cept maybe 30+ with a 9 assassin.
