Just try to reinstall. I had a similar problem, but reinstalling and patching solved that.

Don't forget to patch the game after you reinstall.

:spy: Are you using a firewall at all?
I had that problem before. I turned off pop ups on Zonealarm, and had it set to ask for permission to access the internet.

Your right, you did, but my post was at 1:33 :p
Second question, do you have AOHELL?
i was having similar problems. Heres what i did to fix.
Go to start > run > type regedit
Go to HKEY_Local_Machine, then software, then delete the battle.net key
then goto HKEY_current_users then software, then delete that battle.net key
try reconnecting and it should let you in.
Lot of ppl have been having problems connecting to the server today (i spent about 2 hours on bnets technical forums) and doing this helped solve my problem. Internet acting wacky today

it is your computer. Even if ur d2 is new or old you should be able to install it and play. But ur modem isnt working try using a router from someone that u know that u live with or in a building/house.

Since he's chating with us "online" I strongly doubt its his modem or his internet connection. It might be another program (firewall, pop-up blocker, etc.) or... Windows is screwing up another persons life with its buggy programming. I would try installing the win updates (if u use windows) and of corse update your vid card, etc. Now if your useing a dial-up web service like AOL or MSN that makes your open a browser just to access the internet I don't know how to help or if u even need any. Just keep with it, computers have a way of magically working when u least expect it. (Personally I think Bill Gates has a mean streak running through him and had his programmers insert a random bug into windows to cause havoc on your system after you've had the OS for a little while that ensures you buy his latest OS)
