There are numerous threads covering the basic Skelliemancer or Fishymancer. You can even find them in the Strategy Compendium (http://strategy.diabloii.net/news.php?id=509).

There are also a lot of threads discussing Golems. They reveal that it is generally thought to be a bad idea to put many points into a Golem. Clay has it's uses as does a FG.
IG can't be effective, not even when you pour a full 100 points into Golems. SO using a high level IG can be considered a waste of points.

If you need more information, then first use the search feature located at the top of the forum. It is situated after “New Posts” and before “Quick Links”.

How many points you put in golems depends heavily on your items. My non-ladder necro has good gear, so I only put 1 point in each curse, and 1 in each golem, except for Fire Golem. Clay Golem is excellent for his massive life and especially for his slow enemies ability. I have quite a bit of +skills, so 1 point in Golem and 1 point in Golem Mastery is enough.
Max Raise Skeleton, Skeleton Mastery, and Corpse Explosion. 1 point in Revive, 1 in Summon Resist, 1 in Bone Armor and Bone Wall. I put the rest of my points into Mages, but they're just extra helpers, Skeletons and CE are the main killers. Might merc, of course. To MF bosses, make sure your merc has Crushing Blow somewhere on his equipment. My merc uses Ethereal Rattlecage (Unique Gothic Plate - 25% CB), Ethereal Hone Sundan (Unique Yari - 45% CB), and Tal Rasha's helm for leech and resists. Crushing Blow is essential for killing bosses, as it cuts down killing time by a LOT.
Resists aren't very important for a summoner, except against Oblivion Knights and Gloams. Make sure you don't stand too close to your minions while they murder Fire-, Lightning-, or Cold-Enchanted monsters.
When it comes to skill points, if you don't have good equipment, just max the 3 I mentioned, then use the rest to plug any gaps and solve any problems you might have.

Well I wanted to put a few into IG because i'm gonna make 'em outta IK mauls for the CB

It's easier to give CB to merc. Rattlecage is easy to find, and Hone Sundan is not that hard to get either... My MF necro has already found 5 Tal masks on his own, hahaha, so I know they're not hard to find. Merc will have 70% CB like that, and he attacks faster than the IG. Plus IG's die out on me so quickly. CG's last and last. Unless you have 20 IK mauls in storage that you don't mind losing, I say avoid IG.
Whisper me at *idigyellows or at *mspanu and we can do necro MF together or at least talk necro talk.

Edit: What if you run out of IK mauls? Then IG will be useless, and the points you put in him will be wasted.

Edit again: You're welcome. ^^

My good necro (cause of good items) is USEast, SC, non-ladder. My poor necro is USEast, SC, ladder. I hope to be on tomorrow.
