In your opinion, based on personal experience or not, which assassin build do you like the most and why? Which one is best in Hell? Which does the most damage? Please help; I've never made an assassin before, and I don't want to make a piece of poo. Thanks!

IMO the most powerful/safe build is the trapper build, yet in solo it will be difficult since you'll have to find a way to deal with lit immunes.

A TS/Dtail is also a powerful build, yet you'll have to find a way to deal with PIs and FIs monsters (cf Lunatic guide).

A kicker is quick, but can be hard to handle in Hell mode.

My prefered build (and the one i play) is surely not the most powerful one, but it's the one who gives me the impression to use the various aspects of the assassin. It uses maxed DC, Venom, CM, up to 17 pts in SM, and some pts in FoF to deal with PIs (with Venom) -i've wrote a small 'guide' about it-

Blade Fury Build.. definately. I'ts safe.. it's easy to customize. In all it's a blast.

The best one in hell though is a Lightnign trapper with high Fire Blast... but not a lot of fun.

For PvM, Trapper/Kicker. Basically, max DTalon, some in Fade, 1pt or more in Shadow Master, rest in LSentry/DSentry + synergies.

This build gives you a strong attack in LSentry, a nice leeching/back-up attack vs light immunes in DTalon, and corpse explosion via DSentry.

Ok, thanks you guys :) I'll be sure to consider all you've said while choosing the build for my assassin

I'm not so sure about kicker being the best build.

I've played one up to lvl ~80 but she had too big problems in early hell, so I remade her. Not only once, not twice, but 5 times, lol :D
Now she's an elementalist and can hold her own in hell.

Of course the equipment might play a large role here, the first version of skwOz did not have the best gear for kickers, I can't remember exactly what it was, but the boots were not all that great, the rest was fine I belive.

The 5:th and current version of skwOz is using full Nat's set along with a Jade Talon for resists. I'll replace that one when I find enough res sc's.

I'm thinkin of making another pvm-sin, either a ww-sin[anyone have an ohm-rune left over for free ;)], a trap-sin, a new[and improved] kick-sin, or a Blade Fury-sin.

It's not easy to decide, I'd imagine all of them being fun to play!

Answer to all three: Pure PS build- claw/shield, max all synergies and the rest in SM. I like it the best bc it actually takes some skill to use.

Skill: Charge-Charge-Charge-Charge-Charge-Charge-Charge-Charge-Charge-Release.

Man, you could make a killer profit selling that to newbies.

Uh, have you made a PS assassin?

Yes, otherwise I wouldn't do that ;)

I just wanted to taunt you.

The point was that it still doesn't take "skill"; D2 isn't a game in which skill is much of an issue, unless you count dueling and such. Even then, items play a large role.

The PS Assassin basically does what I mentioned-charging, then releasing. You have to know which charge to use, and when, but it's still not much skill. More than a Trapper, I'll admit, but my point remains.

I don't see where you're coming from. It's one of those builds where you can keep building your skills forever. Not missing the correct charge, combining charges at the right time, judging when and where to lay traps, use MB, CoS. Judging what is the best charge for the combination of monsters in your area. It's all skill, baby. Especially if you eschew the super duped items for a more reasonable set-up, or are creating a character untwinked.

This is the character that draws comparisons to the fighting video games. (that I never play) All in all, it requires more skill than any other character IMO. (based on mechanics, not because the character is under-powered, etc.)

If you're comparing to other games, btw, I do agree with you.

I was.

It seems more like experience than skill.

Get back to me when I'm awake :)

I personally like the Shadowess (Shadow Sister, Disciplinassin, SD Master, etc, there are too many names for this build). This variant uses mainly Shadow Discipline skills to enchance his damages with Martial Arts and also to ensure safety (the protection of Shadow Master). They do not do much damage, but I like them since they are easy to make and are new to the Diablo world.
