Weapon block working without claws?

A friend and I were testing his new pally's smite damage on my sin yesterday, and we both noticed that my sin was blocking the smite when it had its Black Flail/Rhyme equipped. We thought it might be a display glitch or something, but we checked it a couple more times and we saw the block animation, heard it, and I lost no life from the blocked hit.

As far as I know, Smite is unblockable except by dual claw sins and dodgeable by zons passives. My sin has a level 9 claw block, but at the time wasn't using dual claws.

Has anyone else noticed this or would like to test this?

OOOOOOOOOOH!! This could be a very spiffy "feature" indeed. In particular I would like to see further tests of smite blocking, blocking of elemental attacks and % blocking of physical attacks when using a shield and weapon block together. If it check both for blocking, theoretically you could reach 90% blocking.

Someone get on this ASAP please! I'd do it myself if my home computer wasn't currently down. New computer should be running around the 16th so I can do testing then. If someone else can test before, by all means, please do so.

i dont think anyone tried this before because it wouldnt make any sense for weapon block to work when using a shield, this could be a very intresting bug

hm.. i have fought many LLD smiters with my LLD dual claw AND Claw/shield Kicker

i have the two together on switch... i have never noticed a WB block while swtiched to C/S ,, (Wich i do often bc with my gear i can be about 95% immune to LLD smite dmg :uhhuh: )

i have to go C/C agasint those with very fast smite speeds to ensure i can block some of hits and get kicks off. the difference is SO noticble with blocking on that i am positive whatever bug u might have found was unique.

im only mildly surprised about it however.. But if any one else can recreate the "bug" id be shocked. gonna see if i can find a smiter to test ,, sometime soon.

i just so happen to run into some smiters

i too could hear and see a block anaiamtiopnm but i took dmg every time.. even with claw/claw on switch with 47% block

so i think only dodge/evade and c/c works
