View Full Version : let's be pals

Let's try this again, a little more discreet and low key. For those who wish to become a pal and cannot because they don't have a credit card or checking account and/or can't get a paypal account, I can help.

I've done it for several people in the past and am willing to do it again. If you are interested in making a donation and becoming a PAL, PM me and I will work each case privately.

I have a reliable system in place to help people get their donations to the site using the system they want us to use. I have a program in place to help me keep an accurate track on who donates what and how long it will last. It can also be set to send an automatic reminder to the individual when their donation is about to expire.

Let me be clear on something. This is something I do on my own, to assist people who want pal status and can't for whatever reason. This is not an official site program and the site admins/owners and mods are in no way affiliated with this program.

That is all.

Anyways, how does it work (your program?) Is it kind of like an advanced spreadsheet?

SCAMMER!!!!1111ONE!!!!!!

Anyways, how does it work (your program?) Is it kind of like an advanced spreadsheet?

The program is a simple web based form that feeds a table. Ask Zodiac66, her husband wrote it for me.

I input the person's real name, forum name and e-mail address. Then I unput the amount they donated and how long it lasts. It's set up to auto send them an e-mail two weeks out from their pal status expiring so they can renew if they want without a change in status.

I'm asking this as much for me as for everyone else, but how much does it cost to become a pal?

It takes a measure of trust. It has worked with the handful of donations I did months back. I consider myself an extremely trustworthy person and am comfortable doing this for people. It's not like I can rake in a windfall of money. I think in total I handled $75 in donations and the mailbox cost me $24 (all out of my pocket).

Not exactly a profitable scam. I can think of better ways to bilk people for money. Like televangilism.

Depends on the level of status and associated bennies (bronze, silver, gold, platinum). You can also donate at a flat rate and let the admins know how you want it divied.

The MINIMUM is $1 per month to maintain the yellow tag pal status like me. The others are like a menu, you choose the level and options you want.

Look here (http://www.rpgforums.net/subscriptions.php?) to see for yourself.

If that link doesn't work, go to the user cp and look for the "paid subscriptions" link on the bottom left.

The rewards are mainly, helping the site where you spend alot of your time at. But you also get other nice amenities....Large PM box (very nice), and a sig where you can make your own statment or show off the funny things others have said :)poison dagger poison dagger poison dagger.

My favorite benefits are the larger PM box (very nice), other skins and a signature.

The pal forum is cool cause we can post images in there for true battlepics. Also there are some pal status' that have BANNER FREE surfing at this site.

How cool would that be?

I would like to add that, if I recall correctly, it costs the site like 49 cents to collect that minimum donation of $1. It's much less costly if anyone that wishes to donate can make it greater than the minimum. Even if you have to split the donation over more than one month, it would help greatly to avoid the $1 donation when possible.

Of course, if $1 is all you can afford, it is certainly appreciated and won't be refused. :)

I consider Sarge one of the most trustworthy people I have met on these forums, or on the internet itself. If you don't believe him, Then that is fine, I really don't blame you since you are realtivly new. I just thought I would voice my opnion on your statement.

Gotcha. And I was basing the 'new' part not on this forums wipe, but pre-wipe. I don't remember your name, or you being around the OTF.(No offense, maybe me memory is bad.)

Sarge is Christian. He's not allowed to scam people. ;)

I gotta get my pal status back, but I've hit hard times. I'm coming out of them, so soon... soon. *rubs hands together*

I'm a poor college student, and I've managed to be a Pal a couple of times over the past couple years. My donations are very small, but it's honestly all I can afford. I've mad a lot of posts, so I figure I should pay them back, even if it's only a small increment.

And I would put Sarge as one of the most trustworthy people I can think of on the OTF. If I didn't have a credit card, and I wanted to be a PAL, I would not even hesitate to go through him. Then again, I've been around him longer than many, but still. He's good people.

yeah, before the forum wipe I'd come here every once-in-a-while, but not post anything. :)

Sarge, I don't quite understand how you donate for other people with the new paid subscriptions system, since it seems to be tied to the account that is donated from.

I'm interested in finding out, since I have a fellow Danish member, who I would like to help with donating.

Canadia142

ok Ben this is how it works.

1)send him the money via snail mail
2)you give him all the info he needs
3)he longs onto your account when your not on, uses his pay pal to subscribe you and BAM or a pal

Hmmm, I imagined something more advanced than that, but at least that should work every time.

Well, thanks Canadia142.

Just log into your paypal account and send the donation to: donations@diabloii.net

It's not an instantaneous change like with the subscription system so there will be a wait for the status change, depending on how busy the admins are.

And if Anakha says that about me, you can take it to the bank. If there's enough interest, I'll keep the address alive. If it's just gonna be a person here and there, I'll just use my home address, easier that way.

And I know about hard times. I've more or less been in one for a few years now but I'm coming out of it nicely as of late.

Well, as Canadia said. It takes a measure of trust but basically, I click the desired subscription, logged in as the donating user. Normally, they change their password to something temporary, give me the info, I make the donation, the status changes and they change their password back. It's quick, simple and it's worked everytime flawlessly and the status change is instant.

I'm still doing this by the way, in case anyone out there is looking to belly up to the bar.

I'll echo what has already been said in saying that Sarge is a VERY trustworthy person here. If anyone does want to donate, and you send money to him... your money is going to be in very safe hands.

I donate because I come to this site a lot... and as such, feel a need to help support the site that I enjoy coming to.

Thanks Steve. It's important for people to know that their money is in good hands. Most of us don't have a lot to just throw around carelessly so it's good for them to know their hard earned money is safe with me. I appreciate the support and look forward to helping anyone donate who wants to.
