Will I ever get this stuff?

Ho all,

I'm making my first post here on D2.net here in the Druid forum as I have taken a liking to you folks (the druid people) and the Druid class in general.
I started playing D2 about 3 weeks ago. I have a level 80 Bowzon and my new Wind Druid mostly based on Fenris' guide.

I have a few questions about the suggested gear, and the trade forums are a wretched hive of scum and villainy.

First off, I have access to awesome gear as my brother has been playing a long time. My bowzon has Wyndforce,Shako,Anni,Mara's etc. I have a lot of stuff to trade.

I'm playing non-ladder USeast. I'm wondering just how feasible it is to get things like vex,Ber,and Ohm runes. I do have some of the higher end oldschool runewords like Silence,Stone etc. Should I try to just trade for the runes themselves? or trade for the whole item like Heart of the Oak.

Also, what's the value of stones vs. 290 charms non-ladder thesedays and what would something like an arachnid mesh belt or Elemental skill Grand charms cost in trade?

I'm asking you guys becuase It seems like you've got somewhat of a community going on and like to help out. I just quit playing Everquest (finally) and the people on those boards were great. I know there's some cool people here too.

Honestly, the best way to get those high runes is to rush people and take their Hell Forge runes as a charge for the rush. Doing this is Hell mode will get you great runes in no time.

Also the only rune worth much in Stone is um, and that isnt worth a 290 so people will only pay a 290 if its in a VERY high defence very low str req armour, and that's if theyre desparate.

Thanks for advice about hellforge. I heard that the Countess drops a lot of runes too? Not the real high runes though right?

Ya shell drop some runes, but hellforge is definitely the better choice. she never really dropped anything great except an occasional pul or um. Finding people to rush now a days for forge is eeeeasy ridin. I got the same problem, i cant afford anything for my druid. i got just about everything on fenris's guide except full eelmtanl charms, and call to arms. But maybe one day....

And plus, if you can't find anyone to rush, the Countess IS a reliable way to always get at least one rune, even if it isn't as good.

Plus, there is always upgrading!

I save EVERY rune that I find and cube them. I have a Ko, Lum, etc right now. I'm not doing too badly for myself, am I? :lol:

I've found multiple um, fal, ko (2), and a few others. I even found a gul sitting on the ground in NM, but I suspect that someone dropped by accident. Rush for hellforge or simply do countess runes and up the runes. Regarding hell forge rushes, how do you make sure they don't steal the drop from you and leave the game? Is that a big problem? I've never rushed people much but I have some strong characters so I should try.

As for uniques and rares, make a skellimancer and room around help. I've found heaps of elite uniques though I play ladder. I've found enough good gear to make a mf barb who I love. Kills with okay speed, hardly ever dies and is more fun to play than my skellimancer. Tombreaver is a great weapon...
