Maybe Starting A New Clan?(Please Look)

I'm a very experienced player but have been on vacation from D2 for about 6 months. I come back and find that most of my old friends are no longer around and playing. I'm thinking about starting a clan/guild, and will explain how this will work.

There will be no character requirements.
You have to be fairly active.
You have to have AIM. Can be downloaded at www.aim.com.
You have to be friendly, no flameing.
You have to be willing to help others, but also willing to take help from others.
You have to be mature. Don't want to feel like babysitting a bunch of 6-year olds.
You have to be willing to share all items.
I will be starting a website soon, if this succeed's.

Ill explain about the AIM requirement, It helps so much when organizeing group activities. You might not be on diablo 2 but still want to be informed of what clan activities are going on.

The clan wont be very organized at first, just a group of friends helping eachother out. But later on (If it succeed's) I will make ranks and a semi-system of government. Includeing awards and recognition.

It doesn't really matter if we all have AIM. It could be at both if we chose.
I currently play west. And hard-core/ladder doesn't matter, we can all make chars diffrent places. (I play ladder only currently). The point of haveing this clan would be to meet new players and play with them. Not just to benefit yourself with what kind of style you play.(Hardcore/ladder/non-ladder/ect)

Well i been on Uswest since the beginning of time (a figure of speach) and ladder since it started... this sounds interesting and if u want i can assist the clan being started... but as for joining a clan!?!?! Thats another story, i have had some bad experience with clans and leaders (lets say they were too greedy and did not understead a great deal of devotion and respect to other members) So i am a solo player and i think i enjoy it better then being in a clan sorry to say... but lets see how it goes. Also another reason is i hate being low rank i like to have some power....

Doesn't seem fair to me that you think I might turn out the same way. I'm not greedy at all, I'm just playing Diablo2 enjoying my time and thought I might want to expand my happiness to other community players.

I just want everyone to have fun. I don't care about giving away items that I'm not useing, just want people to give me items I need if their not useing. No tradeing, because we will all share items. Ill organize a who-needs-what on my webpage.

I do have MSN. Is there any reason you don't want AIM? It would be just for this purpose. If you really want to Devote yourself, it would be reasonable to ask that you get it to keep a clan organized wouldn't it?

And I respect everyone, as long as they show me that I shouldn't :).

Starting a clan is a good idea. Me and my brother did about two years ago. You can check our site if you want, to get ideas and stuff. Also, feel free to contact me for advice or whatever I can help out with (Link is in my signature).
By the way: We started out as an unorganized group of friends too.

Don't know a real way to explain, Ill use an example.

Ex:When your hunting with the clan, and you end up getting you hands on Tran's Armor. You're a sorc. You don't plan on useing it in the future. A fellow guild-mate is a necro and is looking for one. You hand it over, being courtious and maybe he has something you need.

Bassicly, if your not going to use an item, and another member needs it then I would hope you would be nice enough to hand it off. In turn you get items that you might need and other members have and don't plan on useing.

You have to be fairly active.
Ill judge activity, there is no set ammount of time you have to be on. If your not on for 2 weeks, I will put you on the inactive state on the roster. If you are inactive for another 2 weeks. I would boot you from the guild.

You come back later, no grudges held, you can join again.

There are alot of diffrent types of active. Its personal opinion, some people play 8 hours a day, others 8 hours a week. It doesn't matter to me unless you are not benifiting, or benifiting others in the clan.

Can't you play D2 in windowed mode? That way you could chat easily while playing using AIM. And for those who do stay online while they are not playing it would be an easy means of keeping in touch.

if i were you, i'd check my pings in each realm. just go into a game and type "/fps" (without the quotes, of course) and your ping will show up in the top left hand corner. i get around 70-90 in both east and west, except when i'm surrounded by the minions of destruction, when it always spikes to around 2500. just check out the realms and see what your pings are before you decide to start on them.

Hey, If no one has Volunteered yet, I'll attempt this on US East, however, all my chars are Ladder Only. Providing rushes, sharing items, ect is no problem for me. Currently, I have a level 84 necro with almost 580 MF (seems kinda low sometimes but hey, it works), Not to mention my 82 Zon who was created specificly to rush. I Play d2 at night mostly, 11:30pm - 4 am. Thats when I'm off work. I have a little html experience as well. I also have a few 'elite' items. Couple CoH's, Enigma, Beast, Doom, Delerium, ect. If you can't get me on AIM try me on MSN. I like group games and my zon is cabable of rushing 7 people thru hell :thumbsup: BTW, I have gamed with *Kikko_Tempura before... Seems like a stand up guy.

Hey folks, I have been playing D2 since the begining of time (at least it seems that way) but it is now getting a bit stagnent, there are now way too many people just out to ruin other peoples fun. No one seems to play the game anymore, prefering to be rushed and then do countless runs.

So I am looking for some like-minded people to play with, which is why I am checking out the forums (this is my first EVER post in ANY forum :scratch: ). So if you are still looking for more people to join, I would be honoured.

I play USWest SoftCore Ladder, I have 3 accounts Tralcor, Tralcor2 & Tralcor3, I have plenty of items and characters my 2 most experienced are a lvl73 glacier spike/fire wall soceress with 400MF and a lvl76 bear druid.

I would be more than happy to start new characters and play the game from scratch right the way thorugh if other people wanted to do the same, we could start our own mini ladder, only use items found with the new chars or swapped within the clan. - Just an idea.

If AIM is no longer a requirement then I would prefer not to get it as I already have Yahoo/MSN messenger but if everyone else decides to use AIM then I would to.

On a side note I was just wondering for all you EAST players out there what times is everyone on? I am usually on most nights about 5pm CST until about midnight, with breaks here and there. Just wanted to get an idea of who was on what times.

Wow, this thread has gotten pretty large :surprise: . Maybe we should try to get a little bit more organization. There's a lot of talk going on but maybe we should try and get something rolling now we've more or less been named? So far, I've only played with Cod and Choogy and haven't seen others on in US West SC L.

BTW, Gordo, I've tried to contact you a couple times on AIM, but you were away it seems. Is there any specific time you play, so I can reach you? I'm on the west coast PST and seeing as I have summer vacation at the moment, I'll probably be on as long as my cable connection holds out (It goes down for long periods of time for no apparent reason :cheesy: )

:) yup, i've got my final character built, so i'm ready to start partying up, rushing, clearing pits, baaling, etc.

i think the easiest way to do it would just be to set up a channel where we all can meet, or idle if we're not playing, or something like that. i personally can't stand AIM because i don't play diablo 2 windowed, so it switches out completely any time someone messages me. bah, i'll end my rant about AIM now.

plus i've got a ton of stuff for the ol' "clan fund". it's stuff that's somewhat tradable, but i usually don't want to bother with taking the time to trade it. i'd like to do a giveaway game or something where we can sort out what we have and are looking for, or something like that. anyways, just some ideas, it's late and i need sleep :rant:
