hammerdins: soj vs bk

I have a lv89 hammerdin with 2 x BK rings

why oh WHY do hammerdins use sojs?

BK rings are cheaper and BETTER!

at lvl 90 the 2 rings give +90 life, whereas a soj would give around +90 mana

IMO life is MUCH more important that mana, especially for a hammerdin

i have base energy and never run out due to redemption

Teleport is mana intensive and doesn't give corpses to redempt :)

There is no better of the two unless you mention the purpose. I use SoJs for MF, sure, less life, but it's not like I die anyway, and can fire longer in groups before needing to use redemption. For PvP it's another matter, far less opponents and time to use meditation should that be required.

Most people go soj to get mana. Personally I have a cta that gives me a lvl 17 bo (with gear). I use 1 bk and 1raven.

gmm why not use wisp projector? MF + lit absorb - perfect for Baal runs

If you run CS and do not want to die, I would use 2 Dwarf Stars. I use 2 of those on my mf/gf sorc and so far all elemental damage is easily ignored save souls and gloams.

The highest mana mod is "bahamut's" and that's about 100-115 mana or something i believe.

Ideally they come with FCR or life (IMO anyway). Bahamut's Ring of Apprentice or Bahamut's Ring of Mammoth.

I used a bahamut's ring for quite a while, nice mana boost. Right now I'm using BK and SoJ. I will switch out for raven frost, dwarf star, nagels, or even a nice rare ring depending on the area and the kind of monsters I expect.

I had a rare ring with fcr, 102 mana, 20 life, 17 res fire/light/poison, with I think cold at 30 res. I traded it off, but in retrospect this tops soj/bk... good thing I found another with fcr, +60 mana, +15 energy, and dual 30% resists, only thing missing is mf. IMO rare rings easily top soj/bk if you have the patience to find them/money to trade for them.

Well why not have one SoJ and one BK?

That's what my own lvl 89 Hammerdin uses and he has no problems.

If you go with Crown of the Ages over a Shako I could see the use of two BK rings being used...then again 1 SoJ and one BK would make up for the loss of +life and +mana on the Shako.

Personal choice, like all setups.

Sure teleport is mana intensive, but with a good lvl of +skills and a good mana pool, you could easily get tele to 12mana/cast and have 600 mana. I say easily, cause if you can afford an enigma, then you can afford the cheaper +mana items, like a shako, arachnid's, rare fcr +mana +resist rings, which easily beat out soj, imo.

At 12mana/cast and 600mana you can tele 50 times before you run out. I know I can tele my entire way down to the throne without using a potion about half the time, the other half I use no more than 2...

I wouldn´t say they are cheaper anymore.. Soj is cheap nowadays.
