Still trying to build a PvP Avenger, and I think I need help.

Hey guys, I'm still attempting to build a PvP Avenger who is worthy in duels. My skills are, Max Vengeance, Max HS, Max Conviction, and the rest dispersed through the vengeance synergies. Used Cyrus' guide.

Right now, I have 0% damage reduction. This is a bad thing! :) Here is my current gear:

Um Veil of Steel
Cat's Eye Amulet
Upgraded Guardian Angel (1579 Def)
Beast Berserker Axe
Herald of Zakarum (Um)
IK Gloves
War Traveller/Eth. Sandstorm Trek (Travs for Damage/SST for Def)
Thundergod's Vigor Belt
Ravenfrost x2

Ok, First, I know the Veil of Steel needs to go. I have a 2 socket 29 res, 13 DR Crown of Ages.

Second, the Guardian Angel probably needs to go. What armor would best suit an Avenger for PvP?

Third, HoZ needs to be replaced, I'm hoping for Exile. That would be sweet.

Fourth, IK Gloves. I want Steelrends, I think.


So, are my ideas any good? What else should I take into account?

I almost forgot, I'm putting together a Call to Arms too. Thanks for any help!

I'm making a pvp avenger too but I went a different route. First of all no point in maxing conviction since lvl 25 is the max it will lower a persons resist in pvp.

This is my setup so far

Shako 15ias/22 light resist jewel
Shaft ber rune socketed
Angelic Ammy/Ring Ravenfrost 244ar/20dex
Rare Phase Blade 300ed,Fools mod,13 min damage,11max damage,30ias
HOZ Um'ed
TGods
Bloodfist
War Travs

1 point in vengence and maxing resist synergies. I filled my inventory with offensive grand charms with life so I can save points in conviction to max holyshield and maybe put points in defiance,vengence,or salvation.

I'm still leveling him but I'm thinking the power of vengence is more of the damage because they are never going to hit as fast as the other melee duelers. ALso with phase I get fastest 8fps vengence/normal swing.

What level are you?

I have over 1600 life already and I'm only level 72. CTA will help but your life is low and if you already at a high level thats even worse. The defense you have currently is good and exile would boost that to about over 20k so if you can do it go for it.

well since u like posting ideas up.. here is mine.


lvl 1 vengence
20 Resist Cold
20 Resist Fire
20 Resist Light
20 Holyshield
20 Defiance.
xx Conviction.

This gives Max Defense , and lvl 1 veng isn't insane infact its smart.

at lvl 20 vengence eats mana quite quickly if im not mistaken. So lvl 1 is just fine, with shako , +2 armor , +2+ shield, its already lvl 8 or so.

now instead of strange charms, go for Offensieve Gc of VIta. This will boost ur conviction, and ur almost immune to any elemental attack by any sorceres or druid, or what ever , from those resist auras.

Eth Zod Valor would be a good choice , high defense (2000+) and +2 and life..

Since Deadly Strike wont do, use Either Angelic ammy , 2 rings or one, for the Ar.

Helm none other then shako will do.

Shield i would go for SS for this.

weapon, Since u can't do famine phase blade the next best thing is famine crytpic, but i think u might need a sh*t load of ias for it. if not use Eth Zod B.Star, still viable.

now i didn't start making this yet, im working on hybrid sorc right now hehe..

but i might ditch teh sorc and make a avenger if u guys want me tooo....

The reason I went with Max Vengeance was because I wanted a lot of AR. Also I'm totally not going to rebuild this character. I have 12k Attack rating with vengeance, and yes it does eat mana very quickly, especially with base energy. My 'low' life of 1383 (thought it was 1350) is accomplished without any life charms, so I'm not especially worried about that. I'm level 82 btw.

I should seriously use shako? And SS? I thought exile would be better but I'm willing to try anything.

Also I'm not switching weapons unless something else is a lot better than Beast Zerker. (Morally opposed to BotD.)

For armor, I think that you should go with a stone archon with 2k+def. THis is teh best option because resistances don't matter in the least bit in dueling. Also, as an avenger, you have teh resistance auras at your disposal for anytime use.

Talk to Div about Avengers. He was managing to compete with us 1.10 Zealots using a 1.09 Avenger. He's definately your man for that build.

I was planning this build:

20 vengeance (come on, you need the dmg boost if you want to compete in PvP)
1 holy shield (all your +combat will rise this to >20 anyway)
1 FoH (lvl 23 with +skills for nearly 1k dmg, optional though, still only 2 points for a 'second attack')
~14 conviction
1 vigor (dunno, i think the movement with charge is pretty much needed if you want to have a shot at casters too)
20 R.Lightning
20 R.Cold
rest R.Fire (reason is because lightning & cold are the most useful to have at 95% resist imo)

Equipness:

Mara's
Shako (facet or +max jewel)
Zakarum (um, facet or +max jewel)
Ormus robes/Chains/enigma/arkaines
Wartravs (must have damage boost!)
Ethereal BoTD zerker or a high dmg ethereal legendary mallet rare (vengeance is based on weapon damage so the highest damage you can find basically)
Soj/bul kathos rings
TO belt (gotta need CBF)
Bloodfist gloves (+5 min dmg, 40 life, 30 FHR, nice!)
10 combat charms (boost that holy shield and of course vengeance dmg)
1 anihilus (obviously)
9 life/ar or life/resist small charms or life/max charms

I think you can get about 8-9k 1hand like that, and it's hard to stack 150 resist all or more. Maybe you need more %dr somewhere but i can't see how without making sacrifices i don't wanna make.
