FROZEN ARMOR vs SHIVER ARMOR vs CHILLING ARMOR :
What is the best of all three, considering i'm building a sorceress that will use intensive teleporting ?
I always used to choose the SHIVER ARMOR because it's the one that provides the highest defense boost, but yesterday I died in teleporting myself into a mob and being stun locked :scared:.
Then someone advised me to use FROZEN ARMOR instead because it freezes monsters, allowing the sorc to get out the mob. But is it really worth it considering that the duration is reduced 3/4 in Hell ? And are the monsters really FROZEN in Hell (they don't move anymore) or simply CHILLED (the're slowed but still strike damn hard).
Thx for sharing your gaming experience with me !
frozen will freeze the monsters (only normal/minions), so you might be able to teleport in the freeze time. IMO You'll still die if mobbed, because of the tiny duration in hell. The best way to avoid it is being careful ;)

Well, supposing I'm using a level 12 Frozen Armor (1 hard point and 11 +skills), it gives me 2.5s freeze length in normal, thus a little more than 0,6s freeze length in Hell.
Considering now i'm using an equipment that provides me 105% FCR, it allows me to reach the 8 fps breakpoint, that is 0,33s for the teleporting animation, since D2 works in 24 fps.
So I should have a little bit less than twice the time to get out of the mob, isn't it ? Or maybe something's wrong with my deductions  ?
So what's your advise ? Go for it or better go for the highest defense (Shiver Armor) ?
Thx for helping again :surprise: !

Unfortunately I don't understand a word, but if you want to know which armor spell is the best: IMO it's frozen armor because it freezes attackers for a short amount of time, so you can teleport away. Bosses aren't frozen, however.

For the ones among us that don't speak spanish, I can't resist to post here the "translation" that BabelFish (http://world.altavista.com/babelfish/tr) gives for xnick's post :
(take a deep breath here :scared: )
So that the difference in the defense is appreciable, tenés that to have enough of base, thing that the wizards dificilmente obtain. That is, there is no AS MUCH difference in the defense gained by frozen or armor shiver. Tenés that to prove if chance of being touched by an enemy changes considerably. In my case not encuentrto much difference (p. ej.: 2000 def. = 50% chance; 3000 def. = 48% chance) They frozen it is more practical in the sense that protects a little more since it paralyzes to the enemy (NOBODY is going to die by the damage of armor shiver) and is more accessible in the tree of the spells (although always podés to find some orb with which you need). The one that is TOTALLY useless he is chilling, except in two very strange situations: A) He is only the available one by to be obtained in an item, or B) is attacking to you with Inferno or Artic Blast (either hacece much damage, but enough is not amused to see what happens) GREETINGS
Very accurate lol

Bosses aren't frozen, however.Neither do I understand a word of what "xnick" said. But I can take a guess that he was talking about defense rating...
Anyway, if your main point is to teleport away "safer"... I would suggest to use Frozen armor... because:
1, big defense rating won't help you much when you are at higher level
2, although the freeze time is short... it is still provide you a much better chance (compared to shiver armor) of escaping while being surrounded....
Oh trust me, none of them, the only one you want is Energy Shield (max lvl 10). You can't put one into any of the armours cause of the crap duration and you can rather get the defense from improving your strength (200+) thus being able to use armour with 1000 - 1500 defense and about the chilling/frozen, simply get Act 2 (nightmare)desert hireling with holy freeze.

I'm not sure 200+ str on a sorc is a very clever idea... :innocent:...

A Cranium Basher Great Maul and Tyreal's Might Melee enchantress sorc user would have 200 str easily
True true, but who can afford/find tyrael's nowadays? exactly, no one

Stock up on Faster Hit Recovery (propably from charms) - helped my sorc (105% FCR too) a lot when teleporting in the middle of a pack of monsters.
Frame 15 14 13 12 11 10 9 8 7 6
FHR 0% 5% 9% 14% 20% 30% 42% 60% 86% 142%
Tiny nit-pick: D2 works on 25 fps.

Don't trust him. They're awesome for one point and energy shield sucks unless you specialise.

The nice thing about shiver armor is that it chills every monster that tries to hit you... you don't have to be hit to chill it unlike the freezing one.

if all you are worried about is teleporting into mobs and die, then i'll suggest you focus on FCR instead. my orb sorc has NONE of the cold armor skill, and teleports fine with alot of FCR. you can teleport fast enough that before they land the hit you'll be out of there already. ofcourse very fast + fanat packs are different story.

Indeed! and for those people here who are french you can probably decipher this pretty good, they are roughly the same language, in fact i know very little spanish but i speak fluent french and i managed to get the gist of this, unfortunately if you could tell me what "encuentrto" it'd be appreciated is it an adjective? or just a spelling mistake, anyways thx for the info
