View Full Version : Im a druid newb and have just been faking it, I need help...
K, So, I got a 6 shael PB and since I always loved my newbish wb druid. (the one I tried dueling with and never got anywhere with) I have decided to rebuild him, with PVP in mind. I have gone through the guides, but a maul/FC hybrid is not there, and alot of those guides have great gear that is not what I have. Now for the fun part. I really do know nothing about druids even though I have been posting here for quite some time. In fact my only decent one is my rabies/fury, but that is beside the point. So here we go.
Gear, as of now
6 shael pb
Stone armor
Storm (socket?)
Jalah's (socket?)
Belt?
Raven
ring?
Ammy?
Travs
Gloves? Ik?
As for skills, I plan on taking that little stone synergy and do a minor FC bear. I cant get that many SS charms (4 tops i think), so a full FC bear is out. I plan on Making a Maul/FC hybrid so im not quite sure what my numbers should be when I distrubute among Maul/WB/Lycan and HOW. Bears use HOW right?
Max Fire Storm
Max FC
13 Maul
13 WB
13 Lycan
13 HOW
1 shockwave and preqs
I could have this done by 85, But if any of you have any other ideas on the break down of those 4 skills let me know. Also, I need ideas for the remainder of my gear. And feel free to call me a nubtard and spam here. Its what we do best.
nubtard die plz kthx
im making a fc/maul bear i ahev all the charms cept an anni just need the equipment
im making fc the ar/ele dmage dealer and maul the charge up skill
gloves: bloodfist
belt
shael jalas
faucet ss?
highlords ammy
verdungos for the belt slot - this gives you full pdr with your stormshield.
i would shael my jalals and stormshield cuz i love the rune so much.
Is there a cheaper belt than vergun? And how much FHR do I need? stone gives 60%
you wanna make trappers go
O **** OUR STUPID MB DOESNT WORK ON DOC

You can always do perfect rubies for >100 life boost. Jah in shield for >150 life boost, but i figure you can't afford that if you can only get 4 shapies :)
Hybrids are really tough without the best of equipment :(. Might wanna get a 110 phase with other mods if you can get one cheap.

Gear, as of now
6 shael pb
Stone armor
Storm (socket?)
Jalah's (socket?)
Belt?
Raven
ring?
Ammy?
Travs
Gloves? Ik?
Nubtard....
Focus on fireclaws. Much easier to win with poopy gear. Maul requires godly gear to lose only 70%+ of the time :/
Gear:
For facets, just get the best you can.
6 shael PB or 2 ias with 2nd if you can
storm with facet
Giant Thresher with 3 shaels + 2ias/mod + eth
jalas with facet
Spirit shroud with facet
2 jodams
maras ammy or rare
magfist
string or verdungos
IK boots or aldurs
Charms ss anni + runwalk charms
That covers all the basics and is cheap, and should get you to 12k+ fc
Garbad
But if I made a FC bear wouldnt all my SS skills like WB and lycan and my sage be really low? And I thought that maul bears used a 6shael pb

lol what the hell do you feed your beaver with??!!
I dont really have much to contribute except to say that this...
Jah in shield for >150 life
Is a bad idea. The life boost from Jah is not taken into account when you shapeshift so baaaaaddd idea. I'd go with facet (if you can afford) or Shael for some FHR.
My ww / bear hybrid is at 100% FHR which gives pretty much max frames apart from loosing all my charms to FHR charms and this is a pretty easy target to reach with stone armour and verdungos. If you cant afford verdungos then string of ears is the only other real choice (except leech doesnt work in PvP anymore).

Why would you hit 100% FHR? That's pointless while shifted. 86% is all you need for a 6 frame FHR rate with a bear, 3 frame with a wolf. 100% doesn't hit any further breakpoints.
Shael in a shield does not speed up FHR, just blocking, which helps against block-lock, which doesn't help *as* much now because of the new way blocking works. Still handy to have vs. whirlbarbs and other characters who will try to block-lock.
@Doc - I'd leave maul at base. Use it once, switch to fireclaws. Maul really isn't used for the damage now, duels are too quick to take the time to charge up maul for the damage. Just hit with it once and go for the quick kill with fireclaws, it's useful for the stun mostly. Of course, the other argument is do you really want to waste the damage you would've done for that extra little stun - which will be happening if they lose more than 1/12 their life anyways.

Doc, you won't be happy with a Hybrid Bear with the items you have available. Teh Pimpbot was close to this, but had some more gear, and I wasn't personally happy. You need gear more than ever in 1.10 to compete with all this high Damage, Defense and AR gear.
I don't remember if you and tmp have a 1.10 Caddy, I think he was saying something about it the other day. Anyway, if you guys do have one and you want to make a dual elemental attack bear, I would suggest you drop Maul and max your Lycan and WB, and finally work on maxing out HoW. Just use the passive Physical and from HoW. If you want a plethora of build ideas, I can run them by you later. But if you don't have a weapon to work with, you're kind of stuck with FC, because Maul Hybrids just don't cut it without items to back them up. As for having low WB/Lyc TehStashBlocker shifts at 47/28 and JAJA shifts at 42/23, so I mean it's not incredibly bad. However neither of them use Oak, TSB is 5k+ and JAJA is 3.5k+. TehSkyIsFalling does have lvl 1 Oak and casts at lvl 13 switch, which again isn't too bad IMO and raises him to about 4k with plain charms.
Anyway it's hard to do Maul Bears without gear, so FCB would likely turn out better for you. However if you don't mind switching some gear between this and Frothing, you probably wouldn't have that much of a problem at least making a FCB. But if you have any more questions or whatever, you know how to get ahold of me. Interactive Q&A is much easier anyway. And you don't need GODLY gear either, JAJA worked with medoicre gear, until I got sick of every caster and decided to play with more builds. Oh and as a Bear, you don't need more FHR after 86 unless you plan on hitting 152, which means you need 66 more. So Verdungo's isn't really needed with a Stone Build, so you could get along fine with a String. And if you have a good level SW, you really don't need Maul anyway, because it will just reset your Stun Length which would last 13-14 Seconds. Depends on how much you use SW. Shael does still help in SS, I've noticed when I changed the socket on TSF, but his damage is much more nice. It's still a trade off, and with Melee v Melee, it can really impact things.

I think +50 life works? In a shield, not the 5% life but the +50 life. Only +vit or life/lvl doesn't work.
I usually have 24 belt 30 bloodfists and 30 jalals with one small charm for FHR, but i can imagine a fire clawer wanting to use magefists for the +1 fire, so then you need to find 32 FHR somewhere. Shael jalal's + a grand charm or something. Dunno if shael in a shield is really worth it.
If all you got is a 6 shael'ed pb go fc you would need a ed/ias x 2 + 4 x shael pb to do this job.
