New to the amazon camp, need advice.

Hiya everyone.

I'm planning on making an hardcore amazon. My equipment is undecided because I will be playing no twink and ladder ofcourse. I am aiming to obtain a witchwild string or a bow alike, so I'm thinking of maxing strafe as my base skill. I'm going to put 1 point into all passives and pump valk to 17 and also get d/a/e to suitable levels after +skills. Pierce will eventually be from 4-9 depending what my end game equipment will be.

Bow and Crossbow Skills:
-20 Strafe (main attack)
-1 in pereq's (4)

Passive and Magic Skills:
-17 Valkyrie
-4-9 Piere
-2-6 D/A/E
-1 in pereq's (5)

Total Skill Points spent:
-55-72, depending on equipment.

Now, I've considered using Freezing arrow as a secondary attack but it is a huge mana burner. So, is there any other alternative routes I could take with my straferzon?

This setup sounds pretty nice, IF you can get the WWS and a razortail belt. The advantage is that you won't even need FA as the second attack, as WWS can remove Physical immunities and has lv 20 MA "build in".

But still, even with only 1 point, FA is nice and not terribly expensive manawise to freeze a big group. A Ravenfrost will help increase the freeze time..and so will small cold charms and/or and Eye of Ettlich ammy. Mana can be recovered thru a Manald Heal ring...or, if you are lucky thru a Tals mask.

In hell, you will find yourself hurting for AR, so you can either max Penetrate, wear Lavagout gloves (when enchant triggers, AR goes up) or get enchanted (e.g. via a demonlimb..the most espensive/elusive option)

While those items might not be readily available, you will eventually be able to trade for many of them...even with PGems. There are some decent Price guides in the Trade Forums.

Thanks det. I think you covered just about all my concerns and doubts about my setup. I was planning on getting a Razortail for the pierce thats why the maximun I was going to put in the skill was 9 to get 100%.

1 point wonder in freezing arrow for the freezing effect soinds logical, so I now see myself spending 3 points on the cold side of tree. (2 in pereq's) :thumbsup:

Stats wise, my current plan is as follows:
-Str, base.
-Vit, base to 100. (Liessa has done it, why can't I? Unless she did abit of twinking but I always play no twink so I'm sure it's doable) :buddies:
-Dex, everything else. (Hopefully this should cover AR problems)
-Energy, base

Hopefully that clears abit up about what I'm thinking of doing.

I just have a slight confusion. I've never been good at cube recipes and quite frankly I've never tried. But say if I did get my hands on a witchwild string (I know I'm thinking too far ahead) what should I upgrade it to? I saw another post Liessa upgraded hers to a diamond Bow, but what are the advantages and disadvantages for different available upgrades? :scratch:

The disadvantage is th 89 str req, where LIONHEART goes a good way to cover it. The advantage is the very even and close min/max damage

Well...since you read Liessa's guide, I think you have everything covered...just don't be surprised about the AR..at lv 85, its only my FA at lv 10 that has 95% chance to hit in act 1 hell. In act 5 its down to s.th like 80%..Strafe is only 70%. I am just often to lazy to get myself enchanted by my sorc, hehe. For a quick Shenk/Eldrich run or MF the pits it works however as it is.

I am not exactly rich and most of my gear is donated by friends, but I might have an arctic bow to start with and the odd piece of Sigons, Hsarus boots and stuff...Mana leech ammy or Nokozan...Skystrike when you hit lv 28.

Need to keep the new zon enthusiasts happy ;)

Thanks for the offer det. I will add you anyway not for the items but for your friendship. Yeh, I always play untwinked mostly because I normally delete my chars after they kill hell baal, so I don't have anything to twink them with. I'm not a big fan of magic finding so there is no reason not to delete them.
